I am not sure anyone knows the answer — I went through the task of creating 256 DB’s in order to be ready for growth — a good experience overall — because it would postpone the time to move to the cloud —
But in reading about Amazons tools — their RDB handler — will automatically create multiple instances of the DB and then balance the traffic through the load balancer —
and if so — if I start with 256 DB’s — I am going to have to pay for 256 SQL instances — rather than 1 and then pay extra when volume requires additional instances —
Does anyone totally understand this? I was involved in a huge project on amazon — but I did not start wiht 256 DB’s —
Am I correct here? — that is that the cost of moving 256 DB’s to the cloud would be cost prohibitive — and raise my initial fixed cost — 00 and it would be better to let their handler spin off instances when needed??????
