I attempted to make a clone of transit.awesomization.com

I attempted to make a clone of transit.awesomization.com and copy over an existing site called lubricants.awesomization.com. I saw a warning message that by taking the action I would over-write the existing content at lubricants.awesomization.com (which is exactly what I wanted to do), so I clicked to confirm that and then received this error (see screenshot).
This is on Genesis - Outreach Pro theme.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi @dan,

    This looks to be because of the www

    You really shouldn't use www in a multisite environment using subdomains.

    If you notice in your error.

    It's trying to overwrite as lubricants.www.awesomization.com instead of lubricants.awesomization.com

    Do you have a redirect set up for the www or something in htaccess?

    Can you paste your htaccess?

    Hi Vaughan,

    There isn't any redirect in the .htaccess to direct non-www to www however my wpconfig.php does have the www defined. I'll paste both below plus a screenshot of the config from an MU point of view.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    ~ `

    define( 'MULTISITE', true );
    define( 'SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true );
    $base = '/';
    define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'www.awesomization.com' );
    define( 'PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/' );
    define( 'SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );
    define( 'BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );

    When I do add the canonical as non-www I get a redirect loop error.

    Any help you can offer would be appreciate. Supposing I'll need to ensure all of the configs refer to the non-www version then add the entry to the htaccess?

    Hi @dan,

    Is this an old site?

    I see the htaccess looks to be for an older release. If your site has been upgraded from versions prior to 3.5, then it's fine,

    But if you actually installed the site starting from version 3.5 then it's the wrong htaccess.

    Not that it would make much difference in this case i don't think.

    Before we get to drastic & start removing the www. could you grant support access from the dashboard plugin

    Network Dashboard > wpmudev > support > support access

    So I can take a look at the settings etc.
