I cannnot install themes nor plugins

http://lightcanvas.net

When I try to install a theme, it gives an error and I don’t know what is causing this problem. I have contacted you regarding this issue before. And I found “installer” plug in was causing a problem. But even I de-activate it the site still doesn’t let me install or update.

I de-activated most of the plugins except the plugins from WPMU dev. I changed my theme folder to lc-website from wp-content. Is it causing this issue?

I granted support access already, so please take a look.

    Hi Yosuke,

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.

I could confirm the issue on your site and found it's displaying the "Install package not available" error message as displayed in the attached screenshot.

Can you please try logging out from WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin going to Manage >> Edit API ?

Then login again to try if that works.

The most common problem for this error is that your site can't communicate with premium.wpmudev.com or api.wpmudev.com – make sure that your server is not imposing any filters on outbound connections or failing the DNS lookups for these domains. If you have any error_log entries related to these connections they could help in diagnostics, too.

This can be due to plugin/theme conflict on your site, specially the security plugin that you are using on your site.

You can just try on your development site using default WordPress theme like Twenty Fifteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/getting-support/

You can also install the plugins/the,es manually using FTP by downloading the latest version of plugin like MarketPress from its project page https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/e-commerce/ on clicking on the link "Download Plugin" and install the downloaded plugin zip file manually as described on the following page.

    Okay, @vinod Dalvi

I did this, but still nothing changed :slight_frown:

If you have any error_log entries related to these connections they could help in diagnostics, too.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how I can give you the information. If you can teach me how to, I would try to find out.

The problem is causing in my network, and I couldn’t not understand how a theme conflicts with the network. But whatever I do, I thought I should apply to the master site, so I changed the theme of the master site to Twenty Fourteen and network-deactiveted as much as the plug in possible. All they left are few WPMU dev plug ins.

I don’t mind uploading themes or plugins manually, but the problem was I couldn’t find out how to install upfront themes. I downloaded all 3 upfront themes and installed via FTP, but when I activate them, the dashboard says I need a parent theme which is Upfront. However I couldn’t find where to find this parent theme. Could you help me on that?

    Thank you!

    Hi Yosuke,

Unfortunately, I don't know how I can give you the information. If you can teach me how to, I would try to find out.

You can find this information using following solutions.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-troubleshooting-basics-how-to-check-your-error-logs/

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/view-wp-error-log/

However I couldn't find where to find this parent theme. Could you help me on that?

You can download it from any upfront child theme project page like https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/fixer/ as shown in the attached screenshot.

I may have fixed the problem.

I didn’t realize that I didn’t not de-activated installer plug in from the master site ( I just network deactivated from the network super admin level) When I went to the main website dashboard > plugin, installer plugin was still active. I de-activated. and try to install scribe. It worked..

Is this always working this way? I mean if you de-activate plugins in network level, it will automatically de-activate from network SITES?

Buy the way, before that, I did try the button on the screen shot, and uploaded manually, and I got the error message for requesting Upfront parent theme. Just letting you know.

    Hi Yosuke,

Awesome, great to see you got that fixed.

Yes it will automatically de-activate from network SITES.

There are two links there one for theme and other for upfront theme as shown in this attached screenshot. I think you might have downloaded & uploaded the theme but not upfront theme.

    Thanks,

Oh, man! I completely missed that!! I think it is better make it more obvious button or something LOL. I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a bit button to just download a Upfront somewhere. Just an idea for you.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!
