    Hey James,

    It sounds like the style.css file is missing from the root of the theme folder. Every theme should have a style.css folder as it passes required information to your WP install. Example, I've pasted in the top of the default 2015 themes' style.css:

    /*
    Theme Name: Twenty Fifteen
    Theme URI: https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyfifteen/
    Author: the WordPress team
    Author URI: https://wordpress.org/
    Description: Our 2015 default theme is clean, blog-focused, and designed for clarity. Twenty Fifteen's simple, straightforward typography is readable on a wide variety of screen sizes, and suitable for multiple languages. We designed it using a mobile-first approach, meaning your content takes center-stage, regardless of whether your visitors arrive by smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

    Use it to make something cool, have fun, and share what you've learned with others.
    */

    Theme name for example is what WP pulls out to display as the theme name in your admin too. So I'm not sure where your style.css would of gone, but if you re-download a copy of the theme you have then it should have that file in it by default.

    If you're still having any troubles could you let me know which theme it is?

    Look forward to hearing back!

    All the best,
    Tyler
