I have site which is working more than fine at firefox,

Hi, I have site which is working more than fine at firefox, chrome and so on. But in IE it’s not working at all, could you give me some hints how to fixt it even for IE 9 (and maybe some older versions, I don’t have them unforunately). I have never done that before in that big difference as it is right now.

The site is here: http://baseta.cz

Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi there @karolina

    I hope you’re well today!

    Yep, IE9 is defaulting to quirks mode which really messes up the layout.

    Can you please check in the header.php file of your theme to ensure that there is no text or anything above the DOCTYPE at the very top, not even a blank line. The DOCTYPE should be the very first thing in the file.

    You can also add the following meta tag to the <head> section of that same file (on a new line where the other meta tags are):

    <!--[if IE]><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1"/><![endif]-->

    Hi @patrick,

    thanks for your answer. I’ve checked in my header is following, nothing special:

    <?php
    /**
    * The Header
    *
    * @package DOPLNIT
    * @since DOPLNIT 1.0
    */
    ?>
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <!--[if IE 8]>
    <html id="ie8" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <![endif]-->
    <!--[if !(IE 8) ]><!-->
    <html <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <!--<![endif]-->
    <head>
    <title><?php
    global $page, $paged;
    wp_title( '|', true, 'right' );
    bloginfo( 'name' );
    $site_description = get_bloginfo( 'description', 'display' );
    if ( $site_description && ( is_home() || is_front_page() ) )
    echo " | $site_description";
    if ( $paged >= 2 || $page >= 2 )
    echo ' | ' . sprintf( __( 'Page %s', 'shape' ), max( $paged, $page ) );
    ?></title>
    <meta charset="<?php bloginfo( 'charset' ); ?>" />
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />
    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo( 'pingback_url' ); ?>" />
    <?php wp_head(); ?>
    </head>

    If I’ve add the meta tag you’ve mentioned it’s still the same. Any other advice?
