I just downloaded buddy press group calendar and installed

I just downloaded buddy press group calendar and installed the entire zip file. I do not see the plugin. I did see your tutorial https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/buddypress-group-calendar/#usage but thought I could just upload the entire zip file.

I do not have buddy press installed if this plugins works with it until i do so and if so which is the main link to install BP.

I thought I could use BPGC as a stand alone plugin?

Please advise .

Thanks!

    Hi @Viz

Welcome to the forums, glad to have you aboard!

No, this plugin requires BuddyPress as it integrates with the BuddyPress group component. If you do not have BuddyPress installed on your site, it won't do anything at all.

If you want to install BuddyPress, here is where to get it:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/

But installing BuddyPress just to get an event calendar may be a bit overkill, because it comes with a heck of a lot more community features too. But you can enable only the features that you do want on your site. Check it out before installing it.

If you were simply looking for an events plugin with calendar capability, then perhaps our Events+ plugin would be a better fit for your use-case:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/events-plus/

If that is the case, please contact our accounts team via email at the below address. I'm sure they can fix you up and switch your account to Events+ instead of BP Group Calendar.

Please be sure to select "I have a billing question" from the dropdown.

As a new customer, I am impressed with the customer service and I appreciate your immediate response Patrick!

I would like to exchange the plugin but I am not 100% sure yet. I am interested in many more plugins but I would like to know If I can PM or explain exactly what I'm looking for and trying to add on. This leads me to ask a few other questions at the moment.

    1) Do you have a subscribe/unsubscribe feature plugin for business who are registered? (such as FB which allows users to not receive notifications from them)

    2) I like the friends plugin but is it required to have all Avatars, Community, and Message plugin or is it recommended? I am building a community site but I do not want all the bells n whistles.

    Thanks Patrick!

    Hi again @Viz

Thanks for the warm words, we really love it and appreciate it when our members are happy. And we want you to be happy!

So let's see what we can do, shall we?

Do you have a subscribe/unsubscribe feature plugin for business who are registered?

That kinda depends on what you want them to subscribe/unsubscribe to.

Our Subscribe by Email plugin allows your users to subscribe to your site content at any time. You can even set it up so they can subscribe to different post types. They can manage their subscriptions, and unsubscribe at any time simply by clicking a link in any email they receive from you. See the plugin usage page for more on how it works:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/subscribe-by-email/#usage

Then again, our e-Newsletter plugin might be a better fit for you. It enables you to create different types of newsletters that users can subscribe to and receive at whatever frequency you set. Here also, users can manage their subscriptions and unsubscribe on your site or by clicking a link in an email. Details on usage here:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/e-newsletter/#usage

I like the friends plugin but is it required to have all Avatars, Community, and Message plugin or is it recommended?

No, the Friends plugin does not require the others to function. But it does work best with the Avatars plugin. It's important to note, however, that the other plugins you mention function in the admin of your site, not on the front-end. If you want/need social features on the front, definitely go with BuddyPress.

Once again, if you don't need all the features of BuddyPress, simply do not enable them.
