ProSites charge users at signup

I might be missing something obvious but I am looking to charge users right at signup. I see the options page with the grid but is there a way to integrate that with the actual signup? Seems odd to have a user signup, then signup again for the paid option. I only want the user to have a paid option.

Thanks!

  • Jude

    Hi there @Mike

Unfortunately, I suspect the signup and payment process is pretty fixed due to certain limitations in the core WordPress system (For example, the user account would need to exist before the payment processor sends back payment confirmation).

If you want to disable free blogs, you can try going to Pro Sites > Modules > Enable pay to blog module. This module won't allow any free blog in your network.

Also if the user has checked the "I'm Interested" box at signup, as soon as they log into their new site, they are redirected to the Pro Site page to upgrade their site.

The Pro Sites plugin cannot function until the site actually exists in the network. So that needs to be created first.

I hope this helps! And thanks for being a member

Thanks Jude, that code seems a bit dated and didn't work quite right. Is there a simple way to just remove the css from the checkout for prosites? Specifically the opinionated radio buttons? Also, is there a checkout shortcode or something? I just want the checkout part at the bottom with the options in a standard radio button format. Then I can create the rest of the page and style above it.

  • Mike

Ok, actually in looking at this further it really makes no sense. The page that is referenced in the pro sites settings (checkout page) where it says to "You can create a sales message that is shown at the top of the checkout page. (Hint - make it colorful with images and such!)" doesn't actually display anywhere. That is on the url /pro-sites but the radio options which are visible are on a url like /pro-sites/?bid=7 or whichever the corresponding blog id is. So how do you style the checkout page?

  • Jude

I agree the code is a bit dated but the process of creating the template is what we are interested in.

Anyhoo the checkout page pro-sites uses is the default wp-signup.php file. There are no shortcodes to edit that because of well .. that's how the WP Core is right now.
