I want to change a button link on my front page

I want to change a button link on my front page. Ok, my site is yoyofat.com and the support and help button goto http://yoyofat.com/help-and-support/. I need it to point here http://support.yoyofat.com/

Thank you

    Hiya belloguy,

Thanks for your question! I think we can get this solved for ya, but for the time being it means getting our hands a bit dirty with the theme code. Ready?

    1. We'll need to remove the current "Help & Support" page. I'd just go into the admin and set it to "draft" in case you need it for any reason down the road.

    2. Open main-navigation.php in this folder: bp-magazine>includes. You'll have to decide where you want this link to go. I'd recommend before or after all your other WordPress pages, so look for this:
    <?php wp_list_pages('title_li='); ?>
And paste the following on a new line before or after depending on how you'd like it to show up:

    <li><a hef="http://support.yoyofat.com/">Help and Support</a></li>

(The code editor is giving me grief here... in the line above it should read "href" not "hef" before the link, but when I leave it correct it keeps changing it to an actual link. Apologies, we need to get this sorted on our end).
    3. Save it and refresh your home page. You should be good to go!

Let me know if you have any trouble.

    hef was missing "r"

Yep. Sorry about that. I mentioned in my post that I had to as it was turning it into a link. Glad you got it sorted as well.

How can I do same thing to my "Blogs MU Child Theme" at yoyofat.com?

Switching themes on me are ya!

The process will largely be the same regardless of theme. For a child theme, I'd just recommend copying the navigation.php file to your child theme's root folder and making the adjustments there.

I'd use the same line of code and put it in after the page links which is at the bottom of the file. You should see what I mean around line 123 or so.

    Good luck!

    You're very welcome

Do you know of a site that teaches basic php for wordpress theme?

Personally, I'm a fan of http://net.tutsplus.com/ for general php/web instruction - they do have a bit of WordPress stuff as well. For theming guides, there are loads out there. I also enjoy http://css-tricks.com/ (I think he even has some video tutorials on creating your own themes) and recommend the Dig WP book offered here: http://digwp.com/ and well as WordPress for Dummies (available on Amazon or just about anywhere).

There's loads of resources out there, but these are a few I've used and found helpful at times.

    Good luck!
