I want to migrate my WP multi-site to a new server

I am hosting a multi-site WordPress application which has 4 separate WP sites on the multi setup. They all work together as one web site (when viewed by the user) but are actually 4 separate sections.

I want to re-build this site using a fresh theme and want to do it as one WordPress installation instead of the multi-site. Can you recommend the best way to do this?

Thank you,

Scott Aucutt

    Hi, Scott!

Sure thing, it's actually not that hard.

    1. You'll need to move the content from your subsites to your primary site, including posts, users, etc. You can use a tool like our Snapshot or the WordPress import/export tool to move the content.
    2. You'll need to remove the sites from your network, once the content is successfully imported into your primary site.
    3. You'll need to undo the edits you made to wp-config, then resave your permalinks on your primary site to refresh your .htaccess file.
    4. You'll need to drop the following global tables from your database:
    wp_blogs
    wp_blog_versions
    wp_registration_log
    wp_signups
    wp_site
    wp_sitemeta

That's it! Then you'll be back to a single install, and ready to migrate to your new site.

    Hope this helps!
