IE8 Compatibility Mode

A few things on my site don't function with IE8 that does not have compatibility mode enabled.

The avatar cropping in BuddyPress, how some things react after posting, Easy Blogging when I had it enabled.

I read an article that suggested that one could put something in the header to force IE8 to use compatibility view.

Any one know how to do this and whether it causes other problems?

    Hiya AquaPebble,

    Interesting problem. I see a plugin that supposedly does this (but hasnt been updated in over a year):

    Apparently you can enter a meta tag into your header and also force this, though people are saying it doesn't work for WordPress:
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

    Ultimately, it could be easiest to implement this as a separate MU plugin for your install. Anyone else have any experience with this?

    When I put that into my header it does work. The cropping tool appears with IE8. There was one thing that showed incorrectly. There was a grey icon on the spotlight feature on bp daily where the post never had a featured image. It cut in half. For now I have taken the spotlight feature off, as I was going to anyway till we have more content. In future I will ensure articles that do go in the spotlight, when enabled again, have an image.

    I think I can live with that to have the cropping tool work.

    Thanks for the help.
