If I wanted to duplicate Edublog or CampusPress

There is a write up from 2010 that shows 7 steps to create an edublogs site.

https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-build-your-own-edublogs-org-site-in-7-easy-steps/

What would the plugins or 7 easy steps be today that would create a similar site as EduBlogs ?

What would the plugins be today that would create a similar site as Campuspress?

Thank you

    Hello Lee,

What would the plugins be today that would create a similar site as Campuspress?

Campuspress is WordPress manage hosting service for education – it is similar service to WPEngine, I’m afraid there is no plugins that will allow you easily create service like that because in case of Campuspress it is custom solution created of for purpose of that service.

This article is bit outdated and major change will be in step first, Themes – because we no longer offer Farms 133 theme pack.

You will not able to use at the moment out Upfront themes because with Edublogs you will use CoursePress and CoursePress is not yet compatible with Upfront.

So you will need to find new themes from wordpress.org repository.

When it comes to rest of the steps and plugins that are mentioned there – all of them are still available. Some like Supporter plugin – changed their names. Supporter is now Pro Sites.

    First off you will need to create a multisite network, you can do this by following the steps on the following page;

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Then in order for you to be able to sell sites, you would need to use a plugin called pro-sites, this will then allow you to setup different levels of membership, and if you want you can add different premium plugins/themes for each level of subscription.

If you wish users to have their own domains, you can use the domain mapping plugin which will then allow you to map domains to each subsite, you can even use domain mapping to allow users to buy a domain using Enom.

If you wish them to be able to select a style of site (theme for instance) you can use new blog templates plugin to create different template sites for users to choose from when they sign up to create a site.

that should be all you need for the basics, once you have those setup & configured, it’s just a matter of adding other plugins that you wish your users to use.

Also – CoursePress Pro for online courses https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/coursepress-pro/

Let me know if you have more specific questions.

    kind regards,

    Kasia
