I'm having issues

Hi. I’m having issues with the site compression. My hosting provider is saying the site is compressed and have checked it here: http://www.whatsmyip.org/http-compression-test/ But your app is the site is saying Gzip is not enabled. Its causing me to have a low SEO score. Please help

    Hello Ryderking,

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I checked the site “from outside” and it appears to be compressed properly. I understand though that Hummingbird is telling it’s not, right?

There are some rare cases where Hummingbird is not able to detect compression. That mostly happens if either there are some “hard” redirects on the site or compression is enabled right on the server and cannot be modified via .htaccess file. It seems that on your site the second one is the case.

Our developers are constantly working on improving Hummingbird and I believe such “false alarms” are becoming more and more rare, I’m sure we’ll eventually get rid of them entirely.

In my opinion, for now you can safely ignore that message. If it comes to the SEO score, it will only affect the score given by our plugins but will not translate e.g. to Google rankings. As long as the site is actually really compressed (and it is), it should be fine.

If you have any additional questions, let me know please.

    Best regards,
