Image optimization - WP Smush

Hi,
We have had the WP Smush plugin recommended by Go Daddy to deal with our fairly large image db on our site http://www.canadafootballchat.com.
We'd like to know if there are any limitations in terms of file sizes or size of the total image db OR any other limitations before we run the Smush plugin.
The site has been running for some 5+ years now and has 19k+ posts each with at least 1 but 1-3 images per post.
Currently the image issue is slowing down the site significantly and the analysis by GTMetrix suggests the 1st and most pressing issue is the image optimization.
Your input and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Grant Skinner,

if there are any limitations in terms of file sizes or size of the total image db OR any other limitations before we run the Smush plugin

Thanks for asking. If you are using the Pro version of the Smush plugin, then there is no limit. You can smush as many images as you want, maybe a thousands or couple of thousands or more. But as Smush Pro sends your images to our Smushing server and then sends back the smushed image to your server, per image may take 3 - 5 seconds depending on your server connection speed. So 1000 image will take ~4000 seconds. And if there are more images, it will take more time. Without this, there is no issue for large number of images.

And there is no risk in using this. For example, if you start bulk smush and the close that window at any moment, nothing will break. Smush will start again next time you click on Bulk Smush and rest of the images will start being smushed.

I believe Smush Pro can help you in resolving your large image size issue. Please let us know if you have any confusion. We will be glad to help.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!
