Installation

I need help with installation and configuration. I uploaded the google-analytics.php file to the mu-plugins directory. I setup a new Google Analytics account, selecting the option for multiple subdomains.

1. Do I need the code that Google gives me? Seems that I don’t because the plugin will take care of this. Not sure about that.

Logged in to WPMU as admin and pasted the Google Analytics tracking code: (starts wtih UA-12….) and click “save changes” which gives me the following error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator [email] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

2. what am I doing wrong here?

    Hello,

After installing the Google Analytics plugin, I still can’t tell if I am to add the code given by Google Analytics – and if so, where? I was looking on the Admin Options page, as I believe that to be the only place to add such a code, but I am absolutely stumped as to where to place the code.

If no code is necessary, is adding the Web Property ID the only step necessary to have Google Analytics track my blog’s behavior? Also, in regards to tracking the subdomains, I am also not sure how to add the coding to that. I’ve read through the forums and other questions but the responses to that have not been helpful or detailed enough to gain full understanding.

    Thanks!

There is a place under siteadmin-Options for sitewide code, and a place under the settings menu of each individual blog for blog admins to use (You can make that for supporters only).

You don’t actually enter code, just your UA id from the code. If you want to track subdomains separately you will have to follow those instructions. The code goes around line 131.
