Installing plugins on localhost

Is it possible to install your plugins on a local WP environment?

    Hello Dan,

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

Yes, it's entirely possible. You can use WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin to install all our themes and plugins on your local site. There's however a couple of things worth remembering about:

    1. When creating the local site, make sure that it's got some unique address, so instead of "locahost" or "127.0.0.1" it's more like "localhost/my_super_new_and_unique_site_06743" It's because otherwise you might not be able to activate the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin due to the "domain being already registered with WPMU DEV".

    2. Some features might not be fully available or may not work well like for example SmartCrawl's SEO scan or our uptime monitoring. That's because some plugins need "two way communication" and to be able to "access the site from outside" and that's often not possible with local sites.

Other than this, it should all work fine, the same way as it works on any online site.

If you got any additional questions, let me know, please.

    Best regards,
    Adam
