Is it possible to change the contact email for the main Admin?

The IT department I am working with at a university just installed Wordpress on their server so I can create a site for them. The IT person used their own email for the contact on the main Admin profile. I am trying to change it to my own but it has indicated the change is pending for several days now. This is for a multi-site so the wrong email is also showing up for the Super Administrator in the network settings.

I'm not sure if an email has been sent out to authorize the change. Is there a way to resolve this?
