Is there a tutorial for using directory plugin?

Hello,

I am getting started working with directory and I am integrating into a site which uses WooThemes Canvas. I would like to know if there is a tutorial somewhere that will help guide me through setup. I went through the usage tab on the plugin download page, but it was very limited (and the images were not loading at the time either). I am looking for something a little more structured, like a tutorial. Is there something available like this that can get me started? Thanks.

    Hello there,

Greetings and thanks for posting on the forums.

Currently the only available tutorial is the usage page.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wordpress-directory/#usage

However, if its not covering some part of the plugin, you can kindly post the same here and we will not only answer that but also will get that added to the plugin documentation.

The documentation is being rewritten for all the plugins at the moment and we are helping out all the questions our members have via our Support Forums.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. I am standing by to get things sorted out for you

    Cheers

    Hey there,

Greetings and thanks for posting back.

how do I edit the listings layout?

That would be a custom coding job. For example here is a post : https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/how-to-style-the-directory-listings

The Directory plugin uses the default template from whichever theme you are using, and injects its content onto the page.

Creating a custom template for this plugin is a little more complicated than creating one for a page.

The templates for the content are in the wp-content/plugins/directory/ui-frontgeneral/ directory. You can use those as guides.

Then you need to make a file following the Template Hierarchy

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

for example single.listings.php and do what you want to it. You can start with single.php and use it as a start but you’ll need to add in the layout for the content yourself.

Also, how do I activate reviews?

Reviews are included in the Default Directory theme (included with the plugin download inside themes folder in the plugin files) So you can either install and use that theme or you will need to add reviews using some custom code to your theme.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions on the same.

    Cheers
