Is there a way to make Automatic updates work when htpassword activated

On my site the automatic updates and backups don't work. Could htpassword protection on wp-admin be the reason? Is there a way to solve this with htpassword activated?

    Hello Robert

I hope you are well today.

Unfortunately, no there's no way around this using htpassword protection. The reason for this is our software uses cURL connections which are over the HTTP/HTTPS protocols, which are governed by Apache. So, any access rules set by Apache will adhere. The only way to circumvent this would be to use a different protocol (ssh for example) which isn't always supported by some hosts and would be much more difficult to setup and support.

If you're just wanting to keep your site private while developing it, a much better approach is to use WP Maintenance Mode, or even our Ultimate Branding plugin with the Coming Soon module enabled. The only service of ours that does not work with these 2 is Uptime, but that's because of the HTTP header that is set when those are enabled. Otherwise, this is a great way to keep your site private during development but still have full access to our API tools.

I hope this clarifies a bit. Let us know if you have any further questions. We'll be happy to help!

    Best regards,
