Is there a way to password protect the sign up page for listings? I only want authorized businesses to be able to sign up. First they must sign up for mail chimp, which gives them a password to sign up and add their listing. Possible?

    Hey there Janelle,

Thanks for posting on the forums.

In order to do that you can use our Membership plugin using which you can restrict the access to certain URL's and ask your members to signup for a membership.

It also allows mailchimp integration using pings where you can add a user to a mailchimp list as soon as he signs up for a subscription on your site.

So that can serve both the purposes.

Here is the link to the plugin : https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/membership/ and usage guide : https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/membership/#usage

Can you kindly try that out to see if that suits your needs ?

    Cheers, PC

    Hey there Janelle,

    Thanks for posting back.

Currently its not possible using Membership or Directory plugin but if we could approve a user before their account is enabled, it could be possible.

Can you try and use something like : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/new-user-approve/ and see if that helps ?

So it like a user Signs up, Membership adds them to the Mailchimp list and then you approve the account before they can login.

Let me also discuss this with our Second Level support and see if they have got any more ideas on this one. One of them should be around soon.

    Cheers, PC

    Hey @Janelle,

I hope you're doing well and Sorry for some delay hear.

I have investigated to protect signup page under a password but unfortunately It couldn't be possible with current structure of the plugin. Though if you want to allow changes in plugin files you may consider a hiring from our job board.

Below are few details how a developer can achieve what you need.

Step 1 : Display a password field instead of registration form.
Step 2 : On submit, Send a ajax request to verify password, If password is correct, return Sign UP form otherwise return a error message. Once Signup form will be returned, rest functionality will be handled by plugin itself.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions on the same.

    Best Regards
