Issues with SSL certificate on the network

Hi,

I’m having a problem logging into the dashboards in my multisite. I can log into the main site and the network admin dashboard, but not in any of my other subsites.

I have a positive SSL if that makes any difference. Can I just use the SSL in the master site, and not on the subsites?

Update: I have talked to my Host (ipage.com) and unfortunately they do not offer a wildcardSSL or SSLs for multiple domains, and they do not not support third party SSL. So I’m stuck with my single site SSL. They told me I have to access other sites in HTTP instead of https by manually removing the ‘s’ in the url. But when I try that it automatically corrects to https. Is it possible to change this in a setting somewhere?

    Hi Chelson

Hope you are doing well. Sorry to hear that you are having some trouble with SSL. You can try changing the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) from Settings > General. Let’s change https:// to http:// for the subsites and hopefully it won’t force to https://.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

    Hi Nazmul,

    Im good thanks.

I went into my admin Dashboard, and can't find those settings. I went into the sites section and it shows http:, but when I go into domain mapping it has the original subsites that my new domains are connected to the "newsite.on3clothing.com" has https attached to it.

I can't find where to edit the https..

    Thanks,

    Chelson

    Hi Chelson

Thanks for updating, it looks fine. I got a working solution for this issue that you can follow from here – https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/force-https-on-main-domain-and-http-on-all-subsites#post-1246130

You need to add the MU plugin by creating a file like /wp-content/mu-plugins/wpmu_change_sheme_for_subdomain.php.

Hope you will be able to do that. If you can’t figure it out or face any issue, I can look into it more if you provide me with additional login credentials,

    Hi Nazmul,

I was trying to understand where this plugin is.. Do I have to create it with a new file? I sent you my FTP and my support is open as you instructed. I also ran into another problem (also stated in the message) with my main page opening as a subsite. My Subsite F&WM shows on other computers and devices instead. I had a friend airdrop me a screenshot of what she sees when she goes on my site vs what I see. I'm posting my screenshot and hers as well as a screenshot from my iPad.

Do you think this is related?

    Thanks,

    Chelson

    Hi Nazmul,

I was digging around and found this: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/mapped-domain-not-working-with-ssl

    And it worked!

But because of my second issue, in effort to fix it I deleted my F&WM subsite. I tried to add it back but now I can’t use the above article to make the SSL fix, cause its not mapped to my other domain yet till I go into that subsite’s dashboard. Trying to see if can get my snapshot to work so I can restore my mapped domain.
