Jobs and Experts, layout and other problems

Hi,
Thank you for the reply and I have it setup now, I am having a problem though with the layout on the Expert single page. please see here, https://lionpeopleglobal.com/expert/
When you click on the expert the layout is messed up and I cannot find the page template or how to fix it, please can you help me?
The password to the site is lpg
Secondly, I have hidden the Jobs options from the admin as I am running a different Jobs plugin but when I now click on my jobs page it is bringing up a blank page, made by this plugin, I have even created a new page and assigned it to the jobs pages in page manager but does not matter. How can I stop this plugin from overridding the other jobs plugin? I really want to use the experts part of the WPMUDEV plugin, please help.

    Hi Conor McGlone,

    So sorry to hear the inconvenience you are having. Let me answer one by one.

    When you click on the expert the layout is messed up and I cannot find the page template or how to fix it, please can you help me?

    I tried to regenerate this on my test site but I could not. So the plugin has proper code to show the expert profile beautifully, but something on your site is causing this problem.

    Just to make sure if your current theme is causing this or not, can you please activate any default WordPress theme and check if the issue stays?

    Moreover, can you also do a plugin conflict test just to make sure no other plugin (especially the other jobs plugin) is conflicting and causing this? To know more about plugin conflict test, you can check this guide: http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/using-wpmu-dev/getting-support/

    How can I stop this plugin from overridding the other jobs plugin?

    Can you please tell us which other Jobs plugin are you using so we can try to regenerate this on our test site? I could tell you better about the issue if I could see it live, check your current configuration and make some tests on your site. Would you mind allowing Support Access so we can have a closer look at this?

    To enable support access you can follow this guide here:
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-dev-dashboard-enabling-staff-login/

    Please let us know the result of your tests and confirm here when you are done granting Support Access. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Hi Conor McGlone,

    Hope you are doing good today. :slight_smile:

    I cannot see how the theme is causing the layout issue because when I go to edit the Expert listing the layout is perfect, it is only on the single expert layout, see here, https://lionpeopleglobal.com/expert/johnny-jons/

    I was able to notice a lot of console error in the mentioned page, to be sure whether this is a theme specific issue, could you please switch to a default WordPress theme, and then see whether it works fine. Is this a live site?

    If you still face the same issue, you'll have to run a quick plugin conflict test as illustrated in getting support manual (flowchart), and rule out whether any other plugin is causing this issue.
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/using-wpmu-dev/getting-support/

    The other jobs plugin is WP Job Manager by Automattic

    I could see what you have mentioned, it seems like even when you assign a page manually. The virtual page still works under /jobs slug. As a workaround you'll have to either configure WP Job Manager plugins jobs page to a new slug.

    If changing the slug won't hep, I'll have to check this with the developer to see whether we could have any quick workaround regarding this. Will keep you posted once I get an update regarding this from the developer.

    Please let us know how the conflict test goes, have a nice day. :slight_smile:

    Best Regards,
    Nithin

    Hi Conor McGlone,

    So sorry to hear the inconvenience. Thanks for confirming that deactivating plugins and changing the theme didn't help. I logged in with Support Access and tried to investigate the issue on your site but I can't see the front-end of this site because it's saying password protected and asking for password.

    Can you please provide the password so we can continue investigating further and try to resolve this issue? I'm looking forward to hearing from you and resolving this as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Hi Conor McGlone ,

    If I have understood correctly, you need to "free" the /experts slug.

    In order to remove the /jobs and/or the /experts slugs from archives, you can create a mu-plugin ( a php file in wp-content/mu-plugins folder ) and paster the following:
    Replace the /jobs slug with other slug:

    add_filter( 'jbp_job_archive_slug', function( $slug ){
        return 'dbp_job_cat';
    }, 10 );

    Replace the /epxerts slug:

    add_filter( 'jbp_pro_archive_slug', function( $slug ){
        return 'dbp_pro_cat';
    }, 10 );

    In order these changes to work you will have to add the following :

    add_action( 'init', function(){
        delete_option( 'je_rewrite' );
        flush_rewrite_rules();
    }, 10 );

    then refresh and then you can remove or comment out the last part.

    If you feel uncomfortable editing/creating php files please send in ftp and dmin info so we can do it. You can send that privately through our contact form: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/#i-have-a-different-question
