Jobs Listings page and separate Featured Jobs List [Jobs & Experts]

Hi guys,

Is there a way to have a separated list of featured jobs on the home page and a regular Jobs listing in its own page?

    Hello Rodrigo Campos

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

Currently that's not possible "out of the box". I think there could be a workaround but it would involve some custom template coding as a custom loop would be necessary.

    It could work that way:

    - a custom field would be added to "jbp_job" post type to mark selected job as "featured"
    - then a custom shortcode would have to be created to fetch and display a set number of jobs (of posts of that type) that do have "featured" custom fields set to some specific value (e.g. "1" = featured, "0" = regular)
    - then another template for the job listing page would have to be created, using a custom post loop to fetch job posts, skipping those marked (via custom field) as featured.

That's doable but would require quite a bit of custom coding and as such is a bit outside the scope of this support.

If you feel like coding it by yourself and would have any follow up questions, don't hesitate to ask and I'll be happy to assist you. However, if you need this to be coded for you, you might want to consider posting a job request e.g. on our "Jobs & Pros" job board (please note: no WPMU DEV staff involved!) here:

    Hello @rodrigo12!

Yes, there is a way

    1. For all the "system" pages of the plugins (such as e.g. add, edit, listing, my jobs/profiles, contact; both jobs and experts):

You can enable a "Jobs & Experts Pages" add on on "Jobs -> Settings -> General" page. This will add a "Page Manager" section to "Jobs -> Settings" where you can assign real WP pages to these "system pages". Once you got that assigned, you can edit these pages like any other WP pages, as long as you make sure that proper shortcodes are in the content. So, you can assign different templates, add text and images and, basically, do anything that your site lets you do with any regular page.

    2. You can activate a "Custom Layout" add-on as well. This would affect jobs/experts listing pages. After activating it, you'll be able to set the layout (though note please: it's about layout, not the "graphic design"/styling) of jobs/experts listings within the page; for example - make it a list view or a grid view or a mix of that.

    3. For the "single view" pages (single job/expert view) you can create your own custom page templates. You can simply make a copy of a template file of choice and save it under "single-jbp_job.php" (for jobs) or "single-jbp_pro.php" (for experts) name in your theme's folder. Plugin will automatically pick it up and use for the "single view". Of course you may further customize such custom template.

    4. Finally, there's always CSS that can be used to further change "look & feel" of the display.

    Best regards,
    Adam
