Just set-up

Just set-up a multi-site set-up in a wordpress site but the new sites that are created as a sub-domain all have broken dashboard URL's. What did we do wrong?

    Hi Clint,

I don't think you did anything wrong, but I think, you missed a step or more. At first, can you please confirm you updated necessary code to your "wp-config.php" and ".htaccess" file as suggested in your "Network Dashboard > Settings > Network Setup" section? If not yet, please do that and check if your issue is resolved.

If not, then I assume, it's happening because of the missing wildcard subdomain DNS entry. When you create a sub-domain multisite, you will need to create a wildcard Subdomain DNS entry for your network domain which will pass all subsite requests to your main site and then your main site will serve necessary data for that subsite.

To know how you can create a wildcard subdomain entry, you can check these guides:

I believe this will help you to setup your wildcard subdomain DNS entry and when this is done successfully, your issue will be gone.

If you just set up the wildcard subdomain DNS entry, but having this problem, I'll request you to wait for some time as DNS propagation may take up to 72 hours.

Please let us know if you are having this issue even after doing all these. We will be glad to investigate further.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!
