Library Media not displaying images. Frontend ok

Hello, I was using wp smush and tried disabling and then deleting it but it didn't fix my issue which is images are not displaying in media library but are all ok on the front end of sites. Some subsites on my multisite have images displaying in the products tab of marketpress while others do not display in products. None, including the main site are displaying in the media library. I have granted access to my site but you may have problems getting on because of a security plugin that I do not want to disable so I will also send my credentials in once someone picks up this thread.     Dear member when you deactivate any plugin, its all functionality stops and if any issue which caused while it was running gets resolved. Dear member, You've stated that you've disabled and deactivated WP Smush it and deleted it but problem still persists. That means its not issue with WP Smush it plugin. There can be issue with other plugins too. So narrow down our search and grab issue content we need to conduct plugin and theme conflict test first. But you've said you don't want to disable security plugin. So I won't disable you while testing but rest will for sure.

    Would you be able to send in your FTP and wp-admin credentials so I could take a look?

    Hello Leslie,

    I took a liberty of visiting your site and I've noticed some critical jQuery errors. This is probably because the site's using outdated version of jQuery library and I that's most likely the reason for the issue.

    I think you could give this plugin a try:

    It should seamlessly update the jQuery library to the recent version hosted on Google Content Delivery Network. The plugin is doing it dynamically and hopefully will fix the issue.

    I did however noticed another issue while I was logging in into your site. There was a warning saying that " No space left on device (28) in Unknown on line 0". I don't think this is the direct reason for image issues but it would be worth checking whether by any chance you have ran out of you storage (server space) limit.

    That said, could you please give aforementioned plugin a try and let me know if it helped?

    Hi Adam, Thanks for looking into this. I tried the plugin. got an error about can't copy to file disk. Contacted my host and we found that my temporary folder was full. We emptied it. I was hoping that might be the problem with my media library but no the problem still persists even after I uploaded the jQuery plugin. Could you visit again and see if both the jquery errors and the no space errors are gone?
    I have done extensive reading on my issue and I came up with a couple of links to people with similar issues that I wanted to explore. Here are the links.

    I recently forced https using wp-config and am wondering if this next link is similar to my problem:

    There is a quote that says the following: Chris Cree who experienced the same problem discovered that the WP_SITEURL and WP_HOME constants in the wp-config.php file were configured to structure URLs with http instead of https. Cree suggests users check their settings to see which URL type is configured. If both the WordPress address and Site URLs don’t show https, it’s likely causing issues with responsive images in WordPress 4.4

    I have a multisite and I don't see the site url in the general settings of the main site, any subsite or in settings on the network so not sure if this is applicable at all but wondered if it's getting closer to my problem. Here's another quote from the link that says if you don't have access to the general settings page you can add code to the functions file. McGill confirms that the issue is related to a bug in the way WordPress builds URLs. Even though the solution in the trac ticket is one line of code, McGill says it will break a lot of site configurations. If changing the settings doesn’t work or you don’t have access to the settings page, you can add this snippet of code to the functions.php file or add it as a separate plugin. Should I try something like that? The code is in the link above.

    Not only am I having this problem but I am also having a problem with user roles where the sub site admins are not getting permissions to see their dashboard so we went in using the members plugin that I have been using with no problems and added a new role to solve the problem but then after reconfiguring one subsite correctly and starting to work on the other sites, the page on the dashboard in the members plugin add new role tab suddenly did not display any of the capabilities just as the media library stopped showing images. Everything on the front end of the site is working correctly. I am sure these two are related and I don't think it is a plugin or theme conflict. I've already gone down that road several times with no improvements and most of my research is pointing to other issues. What do you think?

    I deactivated the forced https in the wp-config but it didn't fix the issue but then I decided to update to 4.4.2 and everything is back and in working order. All images are in the library and the user capabilities are back too. Now I am afraid to try the https again. Do you think that was the initial source? Should I be wary of trying again? I am very interested in having the https. I am getting ready to try the clone plugin to have a test site. Does it work with multisite and will it clone my site and everything in it to do testing?

    First of all its very good news that update solved your issue. This indicates that there wasn't issue on your end because of SSL. May be some core files needs to updated which you have already done. So according to me its good to give https a try.

    You also said that you are ready to use clone plugin to clone your site, but you haven't said which one. :slight_smile:

    Right now we are not providing any plugin which clone whole multisite installation. But if you want to clone your subsites then this plugin will be your best friend Cloner . Furthermore if you want to move your any sub-site to fresh wordpress installation then I suggest you give our Snapshot Pro a try. Snapshot Pro copies site along with its database so you will get exact same copy of your site on target site. Here I want to make sure that our Snapshot Pro is not for cloning whole multisite network.

    Here's one for everyone......I logged in today and all my problems are back No images in media library, no capabilities on add new role and no statistics loading with google analytics. LOVELY......Why is the wordpress universe doing this to me??????. After I updated yesterday, everything was working fine. I checked subsites, checked mainsite a couple times just to be sure I could see all my images, checked that capabilities were displaying.check.....statistics....check. great, everything working. I log out, go to sleep and today problems AGAIN..... This happened a while ago too. Someone at WPMUdev. helped me out, she logged in, was able to edit the capabilities, I checked it out. everything is looking good. The next day, Everything screwed up again.....I did nothing to the site both times.....The only thing I actually did do both times is to add capabilities to a couple subsite admins so they could log into their dashboard which is the original problem that I had a month ago which started this whole snowball effect of problems. I would like my admins to be able to actually see their darn dashboards and for some reason, all of a sudden all subsites had no users and no subsite admin was listed as an administrator. We came up with the solution of manually adding everyone in as an administrator and then we still had to go in and add a new role called Subsite admin as a work around to get them to be able to see their dashboard. See the below thread for all of that which hasn't been resolved except that yesterday it was resolved for a whopping 12-24 hours. Any ideas???????? This is beyond frustrating!!!!!!

    Hello, I missed an email from 3 days ago that said my site had some malware on it. Got rid of all bad files, did a fresh install of 4.4.2 manually and then deactivated plugins one by one. Also changed every password possible. Everything is back. We shall see if it stays that way. Sorry for my frustrated rant above. Anything else I can do to secure the site and make sure it stays clean? I have Wangguard, anti splog and askimet installed. Did have wp-firewall but had to deactivate it as it was one of my conflict plugins for showing the media items.
