locked out of site admin, using Esteem Pro

Hi,
I have locked myself out of my admin area it seems. I just made a new site and so I changed the site and wordpess url settings under general to the new site thinking that this would improve my Google indexing chances and now can't get on. My host is Hostpapa and they configured the new site for me but I think I can go into the server and change whatever it is needs to be changed back -- am I making myself understood and can you help?
Totally messed this up so I hope there's a way to correct.
Thanks

    Hi, admin!

    Yep, changing the URL of your site in WordPress settings without prep will definitely lock you out. We can get you back in. : )

    First off, access your site via FTP. You should still have full access there.
    Next, read over this guide from the Codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
    Try the first suggestion, editing wp-config, first, adding (or replacing, if they already exist) these lines:

    define('WP_HOME','http://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com');

    This isn't the cleanest fix, and it will prevent the URL settings in Settings > General from being editable in the future.

    Another option is to edit your active theme's functions.php file. Open it with your FTP client, and add these two lines immediately after the opening php tag:

    update_option('siteurl','http://example.com');
    update_option('home','http://example.com');

    (Replace "http://example.com" with your URL.)

    After these lines are added, refresh your admin page a few times and it should come back.

    Once you're up and running again, go back and remove those lines.

    There's also the option to do this at the database level, but give the functions.php edit a try first, it's much easier to do, and much harder to mess up. :slight_smile: (Even I don't like touching my database unless I have to.)

    Are you familiar with using FTP to access and edit files on your server? I can get you a guide if you need one.

    Thanks! You should be back up in no time. :slight_smile:
