Love the idea behind the upfront framework. Just trying

Hey Guys,

Love the idea behind the upfront framework. Just trying to determine if its going to be suitable to a beginner such as myself.

I am trying to add additional social media buttons to the top of the Spirit theme with no luck. I noticed that the coding for all 3 upfront child themes is different for the social buttons. Can you please let me know where I should be going to add additional icons.?

Kind Regards

Ashley

    Hey Ashley,

    Hope you're doing well today!

    Those icons were actually added through a code element using this html and CSS:

    <ul class="socials">
      <li><a class="icon youtube" href="http://youtube.com"></a></li>
      <li><a class="icon facebook" href="http://facebook.com"></a></li>
      <li><a class="icon twitter" href="http://twitter.com"></a></li>
    </ul>
    .icon:before, .icon-search:before {
      background-attachment: scroll;
      background-clip: border-box;
      background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);
      background-image: url("images/sprite.svg"), none;
      background-origin: padding-box;
      background-position: 0 0;
      background-repeat: repeat;
      background-size: auto auto;
      content: "";
      height: 30px;
      left: 0;
      position: absolute;
      top: 0;
      width: 30px;
    }

    An easier way to go about this would be to use a plugin such as this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-social-icons/

    Then use the widget element and select the simple social icon widget :slight_smile: you can also setup the settings in the backend widget area too if you like.

    We will be adding more elements such as a social media icon element to Upfront as we go.

    Look forward to hearing back!

    All the best,
    Tyler

    PS. Upfront might seem overwhelming in the beginning but you will get use to it quickly :slight_smile: plus we have some tutorial videos that are getting made too!
