Managed Backups deactivate randomly on many of my sites

We use serverpilot and an NGINX frontend to handle all the routing for our numerous sites, but every once in a while, I'll check Managed Backups on a site to be greeted by a prompt to activate it whereas it was already set up & running previously.

I also have several instances of a www version of a site appearing in the Hub, could the 2 issues be related?

    Hello Adam

I hope you are well today.

If your sites are not setup to redirect to either the www or non-www version of the domain, yes this could definitely cause problems. Especially if you've every logged into WPMU DEV Dashboard from both variations.

http://www.domain.com and domain.com are seen as two distinct entities in our system because http://www.domain.com is "technically" a subdomain of domain.com. It's treated just the same as sub.domain.com.

So, if you're not consistently redirecting to either the www or non-www variation of your domain, it's quite likely you could be prompted to enable Manged Backup again. Say, for example, if you originally setup Managed Backup on domain.com, but later login to DEV Dashboard on same site through http://www.domain.com, then Manged Backup will see this as a completely different site and prompt you again.

Could you please ensure that your domains are configured to redirect to the preferred URL (www or non-www) either in .htaccess or your hosting control panel. You'll need to make sure you've matched the URL defined in WP Admin of your site.

Also, once you've defined your preferred URL, please remove any invalid domains/sites from your Hub.

Once you've done the above, monitor and see if this issue happens again. If it does, please ping us back here and we'll be more than happy to look into this issue further for you.

    Best regards,

    James Morris
