Marketpress Donation revisited..

So instead of hijacking an 8 month old thread…starting a new one.

Back in September bobbywang asked about setting your own price for products.

and the final reply suggested paypal

But…I’ve got a client (actually a family member…heh) that has recordings that she makes available on a donation basis…her entire business model is donation based actually…but she’d like to use the store and allow people to get the downloads and name their price…even free.

That way she can use the store interface to add digital products…track what’s downloaded…who’s willing to pay…etc.

I noticed there were a couple of +1 for this on bobbywangs thread.

Has anyone else considered this? Or have suggestions to a shopping cart that could handle this?

    Greetings mobiousdesign,

Thank you for this great question and for not hijacking an old ticket.

I have not heard anything about this feature request to date and i know it is not currently available in Market Press.

However, you may want to consider one of a couple ideas I have had to incorporate such a function indirectly.

One idea would be to use the Fundraising plugin or perhaps the best may be to use the external link to take the person to a donate page using PayPal i.e.

Or possibly create buttons within PayPal, hosted on PayPal, that you can place the email link to PayPal in the external links of Market Press, and while creating the link on PayPal you can use the return URL as the download.

You are always welcome to resubmit the feature request, you can now make plugin and feature requests here:

The more popular a request is and the more votes it gets, the more likely it will be considered.

It might have already been suggested. It is worth a quick search to add your votes before submitting a new suggestion.

Thank you for being a WPMU Dev member!

    Cheers, Joe
