MarketPress/Framemarket: urls don't go to correct posts

Ok here's a weird one:

We created a post and the url for the post (as shown in the permalink section just under the post title in the new post screen)

The displayed URL is

But when you go to that URL you wind up at a product category top page. ( ??!!)

Changed the permalinks, changed the permissions on the .htaccess file to 777 and changed the permalinks (put it back to 664 of course), made sure the rewrite code was in the .htaccess file, updated all the plugins (except framemarket as we had to kinda hack it quite a bit).

I've been WP'ing since 1.5 and have NEVER come across this, Anyone have any idea what the what is going on?

    Greetings thirteen,

Thank you for the feedback and the detailed description of what is going on their and yes this is truly bizarre.

I have heard of this type of thing happening when using redirect plugins and other types of plugins in including our very own login redirect plugin, but there are other causes as well.

You had mentioned changing/resetting the permalinks which is indeed exactly what I would have done if faced with the issue. However, you did not mention what you changed them to? Anything but default?

If in fact this has been done and not set to default, the next step would be time to go into full blown trouble shooting mode because it appears there may be some conflict here and one way to find out conclusively.

Standard plugin trouble shooting protocol - first to switch to the Twenty Eleven theme just long enough to check for the problem - if the problem still exists next involves deactivating all plugins except the plugin in question and then see if the issue still exists.

If it does not, then you want to activate plugins one at a time testing in between to see if the issue returns. Even when you find one plugin, it may be in your interest to deactivate the problem plugin and continue testing the rest of the plugins to insure no others are also conflicting. You will know the conflict when the issue returns and which plugin(s) you activated that cause the issue.

Please advise if there are any plugin conflicts and if so what the plugins are that are conflicting.

    Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the compliment MM, but the company only sells products that it produces.

Figured it out though: some how the "mp_category.php" got duplicated and renamed "single.php". So it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do. Once I replaced the content of single.php with the correct loop that would display a single post, it was fixed.

Thankfully I decided to look at the code of single.php before I wasted too much time looking into other avenues.

Thank NAME, for their help.

Let NAME know exactly why they deserved these points.

Gift a custom amount of points.
