Maximum number of plugins

Having just joined, I am setting up a new WPMU Multi-DB installation (with 10,000) exisiting blogs, and excited about all the great plugins you guys offfer.

The trouble is that ALL your plugins look great. In fact, I'm finding a few plugins
that I don't want to install.

So is there a limit to how many plugins I can install? I'm hoping to build my network to a 100 thousand blogs or more.

    Hiya Derek!

First off, welcome to WPMU DEV! Glad you're here and liking the plugins thus far!

So is there a limit to how many plugins I can install?

I'm sure other folks can chime in here as well, but no, there's no limit to the amount of them you can install. Only thing that may happen is if there is a massive increase in the server load you may end up needing to upgrade your hosting, but that's the only thing I can think of.

Anybody else have any limits they've seen? Best practices for loads of plugins?

    Again, Derek, welcome!

We reduce the number of files and function/database calls more than anything else. All the widgets get put into a single mu-plugins file. All the css that plugins add in have been removed and placed into a single css file of it's own. That reduces the number of wp-head calls and cleans things up a lot.

    Caching's a big help.
