Membership and How to create simple sign up based on email address and user name only

We have installed membership plug in for our multi-site.

My goal is to allow our potential new users to sign up based on by creating a user name and providing a valid email address..

Can they become a member with this basic info and without sending them to paypal..

2nd or could you suggest another plugin to react with auto responder to this simple basic info and then tie back into membership once our new user is more engaged and ready to pay…?

    Hi there!

Membership uses its own default registration for signup, which includes only the members email and name, so you should be good to go!

If you want a custom registration page you can easily use Buddypress Custom Profile fields to create that

Let us know if you have any troubles!

    Hiya @100x,

So first you’d like to have them simply sign up as a member, then you’d like to offer them the ability to make a payment, is that correct?

Will you be using membership to globally block/provide access across all sites? If so, you’ll need to make sure to network activate membership and add a define to your wp-config.php file:

    define( 'MEMBERSHIP_GLOBAL_TABLES', true);

Now that your setup for Membership to run the network (if that’s what you want), you can use any method you like to have people sign up. Even the default WordPress/BuddyPress signup will work and they won’t have to pay.

Just make sure you have levels setup for visitors and for logged in users that have not paid and what exactly they’ll have access to in membership.

Then, when they desire to access the paid content, have the “no-access” page linked to your membership registration page (or a page that recommends registering) and they’ll be allowed to pay and complete their signup.

Does that accomplish what you’re looking for here? Let us know. Thanks!

    Mason… Very thoughtful.. to re-state + add

First they sign up by providing email address and user name.. Its a free .. We want to use our own custom graphic to request the info… They will be sent a custom theme(Site 1) then new users are invited to set it up or request a customer service/support to do so…They will have a free period or they are incented to pay now .. Once they pay the new users are given access to video content on a second site (site 2) That site may or may not( happy to explore either way) be integrated to membership( we can address that here or separetly..I like the option to control these 3 things.

1.the password/access for site 2 with the content. As a separate action after the user has got (site 1) working…

    2. The ability to drop or freeze site 1 pages that are unpaid once signed up

3.Within the multi-site/ membership environment being able to have admins generate (site 1 pages)( with only the ability to do this within their trackable account while the super admin can monitor/maintain control of who has paid and communicate and or freeze accounts..Commuincating those actions to admin and/ or users..

I will set up a separate thread.. But like to know how larger multi-sites organize and monitor large user pools.. Is there a plugin here or example of a system somwhere. Needless to say a drop down with 10,000 names is impractical…Just in case you have a feel for it..

Thank NAME, for their help.

Let NAME know exactly why they deserved these points.

Gift a custom amount of points.
