Membership Pro Plugin: trying to register new users to a test site

Using plugin on a test site (using Instantwp version 4.4) that will ultimately ported to production/live.
Membership version - wordpress 4.1.3 running salient theme
Had been testing with 3 register users. there are 4 access levels plus visitors.
Built site and had tested it using test users and test data.
Extended the profile to add additional log in information.
trying now to register new members.

problem: I goto the register form, enter infor for all the fields
then hit submit data. after depressing, the page refreshes and displays the same data, except the password fields cleared.

before submitting, the passwords would say "weak", but they matched.

Issue: can not register new members.

    Hey Rich,

Hope you're doing well today and thanks for the question!

Can you try it with the default 2015 theme? The issue sounds like one that tends to come up with theme conflicts. If it's not that then try plugin conflicts as well so we can narrow it down. Once we find the cause then we can look into getting a solution for ya.

Another option you could try is swapping over to our Protected Content plugin:

It's a re-written version of Membership and does have an importer so you can import members/memberships into Protected Content.

While Protected Content has a lot of the same features as Membership, it's got a re-designed UI and also additional features such as the members capabilities add-on. So you can apply specific user role capabilities to a membership and have those apply to the user when they hold that active membership.

Lastly, we did recently fix some redirection issues in Membership so it would be a good idea to test it out with the latest version,

Let us know if you have any further questions, look forward to hearing back!

first, switched to 2015 theme--same results
    went back to salient theme
failed to mention, also using buddypress.
Updated to the latest buddypress and the latest membership, same results
Only plugins active - gravity forms, buddypress, membership
One difference between time I originally added first set of test users and current set of test users is use of extended profile fields.

will look into your protect content plugin and the differences between it and membership
