Membership - Sending Renewal email at wrong times

Joe...it seems like there is a glitch in Membership plugin. My subscription Members started receiving a renewal email 5 days prior to their monthly serial renewal was scheduled to rollover. I changed the Communication Settings to zero days until this is fixed. Now I had a new Member purchase the 6 months Membership at a single purchase, and she also received an automatic 5 day renewal email - this makes no sense! What is triggering this email to be sent?
