Mix-content error on subdomain wp-admin page. Users can’t log in to a subdomain when Domain Mapping plugin is active

It seems, your site had weird Domain Mapping settings which were partially deleted.

I cleared all these settings and now it works fine.

If you have a simmilar issue on other WP installation – you can use the following code as a MU plugin for removing DM settings ( more info about MU plugins is here )
```

add_action('plugins_loaded', 'dm_remove_settings');

function dm_remove_settings() {

delete_site_option( 'map_admindomain' );

delete_site_option( 'domain_mapping' );

}
```
Then open a page on your site and then DON’T FORGET to remove this MU plugin.

Thanks for your help…Not sure what happened, but all these issues started when I upgraded to php 7.1. I had no issues logging in to my subsites before that. So I reverted back to 7.0 but the issues stayed even though I went back to 7.0.

I’ll keep this snippet on record…I’m trying to setup WordPress Native mapping but it’s not working as expected yet. I might have to just go back to Domain Mapping plugin.

Luís found a workaround for me…but seems like you guys patched it with this latest release. Just by reading the description of the release, that was the problem I was having…

I have 1 more issue I can think of regarding the DM plugin…This is in regards to logging in through the original subsite url wp-admin. This is before mapping the domain.

Every time I log in with my test account or my customer’s credentials, the page refreshes back to the wp-admin login page. These accounts have administrator role. Now even when I try to log in with my super admin credentials through the original subsite url wp-admin it still refreshes the page. This is the same for both chrome and firefox.

I had to tell my customers to log in through the main site wp-admin. That page doesn’t seem to be affected. But of course, I’d rather have them log in through their own wp-admin page.

This issue doesn’t really matter once I’ve mapped their domain. My customers can log in fine through their wp-admin as long as it’s mapped. My super admin also works.

I’ve already done a plugin conflict test. The original subsite wp-admin URL works just fine when I log in with my test credentials and super admin credentials without the DM plugin.

DM is definitely doing something with the settings or code.

from your description, this looks like an issue I was able to backtrace and fix just yesterday together with a mixed-content error of the admin-ajax. We had the same issue which led to the login forms action url always ended up with “http” instead of “https”. Modern browsers prevent submitting the data to an unsafe target if you are on a secure site.

Try the “Hotfix / Workaround” from my other post. Maybe it helps for now.
