mmbership - is there a way to manage communications via aweber, mailchimp, etc?

hi,
Is there a way to automatically assign someone to a membership via a signup form in aweber, mailchimp, etc?

also, is there a way to automatically add members to a list on aweber, etc?

I guess my question really is: how do people who use the membership module email market to their members while giving them an option to opt out and comply with spam regs?

I'd be interested in hearing feedback.
thanks!

    Hi again!

    We offer separate plugins that your users can use to subscribe to emails.

    You cannot auto-add anyone to a list with Membership. All Membership offers at this time via the Communications menu is the ability to set communications by sending emails relative to the members' subscription expiration.

    You can check out this

    @philosophyofuse,

    Yes you can have new members added to you mail lists automatically, which is why I love this plugin. Barry (developer) has a thing called pings which allows you to create very advanced functionality. You could have a member get added to a list using membership pings and mailchimps api etc.

    In fact Timothy has given very detailed instructions in his membership how to manual. Which saves me explaining it :wink:
    Here is the link, have fun ...

    On page 33 of 60 you will find ping info and actual working example of using it with mailchimp.

    I guess my question really is: how do people who use the membership module email market to their members while giving them an option to opt out and comply with spam regs?

    You are using mailchimps/aweber etc api and therefore talking directly with their system. user goes through opt in / opt out process as if they joined via a subscribe button. They get added to your list(s) as part of their membership. They can of course unsubscribe at any time / and you can have them unsubscribe automatically when they leave a membership using pings.

    Hi,

    I have another approach here.
    My auto-responder allows me to get subscribed by sending an blank email to a Campaign.
    I have tried to manage Pings and pingtest.php, but no success with user_email displayed.
    (reference: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/pings-on-membership)

    My Ping details:
    blogurl=%blogurl%
    username=%username%
    subscription=%subscriptionname%
    level=%levelname%
    email=%useremail%

    My pingtest.php:
    ...
    $message = "Blog url: ".$_POST['blogurl']."
    Username: ".$_POST['username']."
    Subscription: ".$_POST['subscription']."
    Membership Level: ".$_POST['level']."
    E-mail: ".$_POST['useremail']."
    " ; ...

    When I will get proper useremail in a pings message body,
    than I can also use it in a: $headers .= 'From:...

    So please help me why I can not get user_email from db displayed in a ping?

    Thanks!
