Moving Slooowly after upgrade to 3.1

Moving so slowly that it is painful to work on. I've read some of the forums so am guessing it has something to do with plug ins and cache but wonder if there is anyone at WPMU who will troubleshoot my issue since the site is barely useable at this point, and it seems the 'fix' may take more tech. expertise than i have right now. Thanks..

    Hey Msglobetrotter.

wonder if there is anyone at WPMU who will troubleshoot my issue since the site is barely useable at this point, and it seems the 'fix' may take more tech. expertise than i have right now. Thanks..

Unfortunately that is something which is out of our scope of support.

I can however give you some pointers and advice!

There are numerous cache plugins you can consider, my favourite is Donnchas WP Super Cache Plugin:

    Another popular one is W3:

With regards to plugins and themes, yup to many can bloat your install, bloat your database and cause some huge head aches and its not always something easy to fix. Turning those plugins and themes of can still leave a ton of rubbish in the database for you and that can cause issues with loading.

Here is some advice I posted a while ago:

Always try to use a little plugins as possible. especially plugins which load extra things in the database and through hooks.

You could look to optimise your database.

You could also look to optimise your theme and its CSS, ensure it uses all the latest WP standards. Ensure all images in the theme and in posts are not huge. I've seen people stick images on the front of their site weighing in at 10mb. Some more. Well this all slows sites down.

If you are really stuck and need help then there are people whom will offer this service for a premium.

You could even post here for developers to perform some custom work for you:

    Hope this helps.
