Multi-domains and Domain Mapping

I am still trying to ascertain the proper use of a few WPMU plug-ins.

How should I differentiate your multi-domain plug-in versus the domain mapping plug-in.

It sounds as though the first one would supersede the need for the second one.

Is that correct?

Do you have a tutorial on how one would use them together?

Thank you.

Hey @john Langlois, Michael here!

Concisely put, Multi-Domains would ideal for this sort of a situation:

You allow users to sign up for subdomain sites on your network, but want to offer them more than just this:

    mysubsite.mynetwork.com

You also want to offer them other root domain possibilities, like:

    mysubsite.mysupernetwork.com

    mysubsite.mynet.com

    mysubsite.coolnetwork.com

Now, as for Domain Mapping, it’d be ideal for this sort of situation:

You allow users to register for subsites on your network, with an address like this:

    mysubsite.mynetwork.com

But… instead of having an address with your root domain in it, you want to allow them to use a domain of their own, such as:

    myfunkysite.com

As for a guide to using these two plugins together, I don’t have one presently, but I _do_ have a guide that we’ve posted on the blog regarding Domain Mapping:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/domain-mapping-wordpress/

    Hope this helps!

    Kind Regards,

    Michael
