Multi Site Network is down

I just noticed that my entire multi site network says DNS Can Not be Found. I havnt made any changes in the network in days so I am thinking it might be a hosting issue. Any thoughts on this? http://www.freedomwave.net is up but all of the sub sites are down. Thanks for any advice. I have also emailed my hosting company.

    Hello Justin,

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

Is this a sub-domain Multisite? If yes, then it looks like the wild-card subdomain was not configured. I understand that it was working before so if you did not make any changes to the site and/or domain configuration recently it may indeed be related to some unexpected changes/breaks of DNS servers.

I think it would be best first to wait for host response and then we could investigate further depending on what they say. What's definitely worth checking even despite asking the host, is the wild-card DNS configuration for the domain.

    Best regards,
    Adam

I thought of something... Last week I tried to use snapshot for my first time. I was trying to use it to Migrate a site but when I did it all it did was save and migrate my site http://www.freedomwave.net it did not actually migrate the subsite like I was trying to do. After that failed I got working on another project and I never went back into this network. Is it possible that I somehow caused this with that plugin? Thats the last thing I have done with this site or network. Thanks for any input.

My site http://www.freedomwave.net is up but every site in the network is down. I am also not able to login to the back end of any of the sites in the network. I am still waiting for a response from my host Flywheel.

I feel I may have caused this problem with Snap Shots. If I remember correctly I was trying to take my site http://www.fightingthefish.com (its on my multi site) and make a copy of it using Snap Shots. I was then going to take that copy and upload it to a different site on my multi site. I was basically just trying to see if I could get it to work properly. After I did that the site I was trying to clone/migrate was not the single fightingthefish site but instead it was a copy of http://www.freedomwave.net I know thats confusing but basically I copied the main site freedomwave.net instead of the sub site that I was trying to do. That is the last thing I did in the network and then I got busy with another project. I am not sure if this caused the problem or not.

I also just noticed that fightingthefish.com is up (the site wasnt completed) its the only site in my network that is up and running and thats the one I was trying to clone so I think I messed something up :slight_frown:

    Hi Justin,

I must say that I'm not sure what could happen during the snapshot restore process, but when you backup or restore sites you would need to sure that you have entered correct site ID so it doesn't get restored on your main site.

Since you're not sure what has caused this it might be best checking with your host if there's earlier backup of your entire site when everything was in order and restore to it.

Are you still able to access your network admin section in order to grant us access so we can have a closer look?
To enable support access you can follow this guide here:

I think what I did was when I restored the site using snapshots I think I restored it to a very old snapshot on accident. A snaphot that was somehow created before the network was properly set up. But I am not sure of the fix
