Multisite for all sites, good or bad idea?

I’m in the process of moving my sites over to Siteground.

I have various sites, and many use the same theme & plugins. I was thinking that it might be simpler to create a multisite and just have each of the sites become a site on there, then use the Domain Mapping plugin to connect to each of them.

Is this a good or bad idea?

Thanks.

    Hey @Dark Scream,

Hope you’re doing well today

Well I couldn’t give you an definite answer on this as it mostly depends on your preference and what are your plans with the sites for future.

I would suggest going through this blog post to see what are the perks of using multisite and other way around:

If you decide to go with multiple single site installation there are tools that will make your life easier by keeping everything up to date from one place, you can check these two regarding that:

    Hope this helps

Hi there, our company runs a number of wordpress multisites for ourselves and clients and also as SaaS solutions.

One of the challenges we face is that we have to check that any updates to plugins or themes do not adversely affect any sub-sites we have. This is easy if you have 5 sub sites. This is tricky if you have 50 subsites. This requires automation if you have 500 subsites.

Also, if you dont use a load balanced host like Pressidum, WP Engine or Kinsta, when your server goes down (and as a user of siteground, I can tell you they do go down occasionally), it will affect ALL your sites.

But of course if you have just a few sites and want to launch more quickly and easily, sure, this is an awesome way to go. It’s really fast to just map the domain name without the hassle of the 5 min install and configuring all the settings all over again.

@Dark Scream I heard about that Life thingy, they say that the graphics are great but the gameplay isn’t that good

If you have any additional question please let us know.

    Best regards,
