Multisite Marketpress questions

We are exploring the possibility of creating a multi-site Etsy style site with multisite Marketpress.

So far we've found the information on how to do this to be rather scant. Has anyone actually ever done it?

For now, an initial question.

Following advice, it appears that the New Blog Templates plugin can be used to set up new stores to automatically have the theme, pages, etc that are desired - this can create a consistent aesthetic across the mu network.

However, what if changes are desired to that default look/feel? Changing the template store site does not affect site stores that have already been created. You would have to manually go into every single store it seems.

Has there been any consideration to this sort of problem? Any ideas on how it could be solved?

    verdandi,

Hello and Welcome to the WPMUDEV Community!

For the Marketpress Etsy style store: This is simply a network of sites with Chained Payments enabled. If you visit the Chained Payments Meta box in the Network Admin, once you've selected that it can be used, you will find more specific instructions on how to apply for your App ID and start using Chained Payments.

For the New Blog Templates, It is by design that the Blog Templates are not Dynamic. Very sorry.

    Best,

    Kimberly

    Hiya,

Plenty of folks have different setups around this same idea. Right now we don't have their posts altogether, but scouring the forums and searching the site.

Correct. There are no "strings" attached between the two sites, so no way to push your changes to already-created sites.

There's really no great way around this. I'd think you wouldn't want to overwrite your user's site changes without letting them know.

If you were to hard-code specific content into your themes, this would also be shown on sub-sites and then you'd just change the code in the actual theme (which would then also be seen on all sub-sites using that theme).

Hopefully something there helps. Let us know!
