Multisite on a tertiary domain, with subdomains

Hey, is this possible?

I have:

example.com and http://www.example.com as a static html site.
stuff.example.com and other subdomains set up as other static sites.
example.com/things and similar subfolders are running stand-alone wordpress sites.

I want:

dev.example.com to be multisite.
foo.dev.example.com and bar.dev.example.com etc to be the wildcard subsites of the multisite network.

How would I configure that? Does multisite handle that out of the box, or will I be forever editing the .htaccess file whenever I add a new subdomain?

Thanks

    Hey @Lydia!

As discussed on the live chat today, as long as you've set up a wildcard subdomain like this:

    *.dev.example.com

And follow the directions in the setup of Multisite for editing your .htaccess & wp-config.php files, you should be just fine.

Also, as to your follow up question there:

Is that the .htaccess in the /dev folder only, I take it? or the main web root .htaccess?

If your dev.example.com site is installed in the /dev subfolder, then you'd be editing the .htaccess there.

    Kind Regards,
    Michael
