Need to Work Without Parking the Domain

I would like to know if Domain Mapping still works if we don't park the domains?

We are building out a network and we want people who join into the network to map their domains by themselves without any help from us.

So they would look at the instructions and then change their DNS to map their domains to their sub site. And after that it should be done. There should be no involvement on our part.

Is this possible? Please do let me know. Thanks.

    Hello @Jian

    Welcome to WPMU community!

I hope you are well today and thanks for asking the question.

Yes, this is possible. For that, you will need a dedicated IP and that IP needs to be pointed to the network site. That means, when you enter the IP in the browser, it should take you to the network site.

Then the user needs to configure his domain DNS A record and point to that IP. You need to provide the IP to your users

Hope it helps  Please feel free to ask more question if you have.

    Hi Ashok,

Cool! Still working on it and still waiting for things to propagate and hope it works.

Yes we do have a dedicated IP and that should work right?

I will see but currently it is saying Health Status as Invalid and I have disabled this setting: Verify domain's DNS settings (currently set to No)

Hope you can help me out with this one. Thanks.

    Hello @Jian

This is great that you have a dedicated IP. Is the IP pointed to the network site?

I mean if your site is and your IP is and then if you enter do you see the site?

Next point is, let's assume your mapped domain is and you pointed that domain to the IP To test it, if you enter do you see site?

If the answer is YES, only then the health status would be valid.

    Please let us know.
