Network Theme (Multiple) Default Thumbnail

I need to have the Network theme select a random default image for posts that don't have their own images. I have installed OIO Banner plugin that provides a Javascript output code and have copy pasted this code into the Network backend where the default image code is supposed to be pasted. However no images are pulled through to the main page.

Is there a simpler solution to this?

    hi
    try open network/library/functions/custom-functions.php line 611+
    you can edit the code here however you need to clear the default thumbnail save in
    theme option first.

    original code

    <?php if ($thumbnail != '') { ?>
    					<img src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/library/functions/timthumb.php?src=<?php echo $thumbnail; ?>&h=108&w=227&zc=1&multisite=true&blogdirid=<?php echo $blog; ?>" alt="" style="width:227px; height: 108px;" />
    					<?php } else if ($default_thumbnail_url != '') { ?>
    						<div class="thumb"><a href="<?php $thispermalink; ?>"><img src="<?php echo $default_thumbnail_url; ?>" alt="" /></a></div>
    					<?php } 	else { ?>
    							<div class="thumb"><a href="<?php echo $thispermalink; ?>"><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/_inc/images/placeholders/article.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
    						<?php } ?>
    			<?php }

    		?>

    edit to

    <?php if ($thumbnail != '') { ?>
    					<img src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/library/functions/timthumb.php?src=<?php echo $thumbnail; ?>&h=108&w=227&zc=1&multisite=true&blogdirid=<?php echo $blog; ?>" alt="" style="width:227px; height: 108px;" />
    					<?php } else if ($default_thumbnail_url != '') { ?>
    						<div class="thumb"><a href="<?php $thispermalink; ?>"><img src="<?php echo $default_thumbnail_url; ?>" alt="" /></a></div>
    					<?php } 	else { ?>

    <div class="thumb">
    <!--YOUR AFF/EMBED CODE HERE-->
    </div>

    <?php } ?>
    			<?php }

    		?>

    cheers
