New Members to Site not Added to eNewsletter

I've recently had some problems with eNewsletter after my plugins were disabled and reactivated looking for an issue in MarketPress (See here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/uploading-products-has-stall ). At first, the eNewsletter member list was unavailable. However, that list has reappeared seemingly by itself.

But now, subscription options for regular users (not admins) are unavailable. If I switch to one of my users, I cannot access their eNewsletter subscription options.

Also, new users signing up to the main Wordpress site are not automatically added to the eNewsletter Member list. They are added to the Membership Premium list, however. I would request that you add the same hooks Membership Premium has to eNewsletter, in order to more accurately and easily add new members by default.

Help with the above issues would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Len,

Hope you are well today! and Thanks for posting on the forums.

Could you please try deactivating all other plugin and changing the theme to check for the conflict here?

Also, you can associate the default user role By navigating to the Membership ==> Access Levels ==> Edit ==> Advanced (both) tab ==> Associated Role.

Please have a try and let me if you still face this issue.

    Have a great day!

    @Dharmendra

I have been using eNewsletter for over a year, with the plugins I am using now not causing any conflict. As I said above, the problems only began when the plugins were disabled and reactivated. As of now, I, as an admin, can access my own subscription setting, but regular users cannot. If there was a conflict, my own subscription settings would not be accessible.

I'm not sure how changing settings in Membership will help my problems for the Member list in eNewsletter, please explain. When a new user registers for the site, they automatically appear in Membership, but not in eNewsletter. Apparently, eNewsletter does not use the same hooks as Membership to add new users. I've had to add new users to the eNewsletter list manually, and I would like them to be added automatically. Also, I already have Negative Rules associated with Access Levels that do not block access to user profiles or subscription settings.

    Please advise on the above.

    Hello again @Len,

I logged-in on your site using the credentials you previously sent us on email.
I took a look at your configuration, enabled plugins etc and found that the e-Newsletter plugin has not been properly configured...
From your dashboard please go to Network Admin => eNewsletter => Settings and make sure you setup all otions there, including the "Subscribe Page ID" and "Unsubscribe Page ID" options.

Once you set up all options, please try registering a new account and test if they are added on the eNewsletter members list...

    Please advise,
    Ari.

    Hi @aristath

It seems everything is already set up the way it was. I have been using this plugin successfully for 8 months or so, and the settings are just the way I left them before @PC damaged my site. The "Subscribe Page ID" and "Unsubscribe Page ID" options I have always intentionally left blank as I have not created custom (un)subscribe pages, and the instructions next to these fields even say I can leave them blank to disable.

I think you are going to the wrong area, though. I never send e-newsletters through the network dashboard, but the main site dashboard (and regular members would have no access to their subscribe settings via the network anyway, only the super admin would). Please go to the main site dashboard, as presently I see only a blank page when I try to access eNewsletter's settings via the main site dashboard. Not only this, but many of the form tabs do not even function (example: "Show the export Members form" under main site dashboard - wpadmin => enewsletter => members will not operate, nothing will work by clicking this tab)

Strangely, I have seen these functions appear and disappear since the problem began. But right now they are not working on the main site dashboard, and are working in the network dashboard. Perhaps you will notice the same if you go to the main site dashboard... as that is where regular members of my site have previously been able to access subscription settings on their own dashboards.

Please look at the main site dashboard situation... attempt to switch users... and you will see what I mean... no subscription options available...

    Hello again @Len,

I'm sorry for the delay here...
It took me a while to figure out but I have verified that this is a JS conflict.

The HTML of the form actually exists on the page, but it is not displayed because by default its CSS is set to display:none; and is then set to display:block; once the page fully loads via JS.
For some reason, that JS is not executed on your site.
To make this a little more clear, I'm attaching 2 screenshots here showing what's what.

I'm afraid though that this is a bit above my level of expertise, so I have notified our second level support guys on this one (they're the code gurus), hopefully they'll be able to shed some more light here!

    Cheers,

Please do have them and yourself correspond with @Jack Kitterhing as he is corresponding with me privately via email on other issues that may be interrelated with the above. (he just signs as "Jack" though, so I am assuming he is Jack Kitterhing.)

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

Thank you so much for your help regarding these issues.

With the site navigation page, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ was never before listed as a link, or even created before @Jack Kitterhing had me clear site transients. Before clearing these, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/towards-an-enlightened-spiritual-theology/reincarnation/ was in the place of http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ , and http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ never even existed.

How can we restore http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/towards-an-enlightened-spiritual-theology/reincarnation/ to the sidebar navigation and remove http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ not just from the sidebar, but from the site itself?

    Thanks again!

    Hi @Len,

I hope you are well today

Actually, I think the http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ exist, but without your notice

When you add new term into your taxonomy, an Url will created for that term. So example, when you added the reincarnation term to series taxonomy, this url will created, and the content of that url will be all the posts belong to that term. That is wordpress default behavior.

So if you want to remove the url, you will need to delete the term, but this will be need to check because it will impact to your site data.

About the side bard, just for clarification, does it Book Sidebar ?

    Thanks!!!

    Best regards,

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

Please rephrase your last question, as I don't understand what you're asking.

"Actually, I think the http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ exist, but without your notice

When you add new term into your taxonomy, an Url will created for that term. So example, when you added the reincarnation term to series taxonomy, this url will created, and the content of that url will be all the posts belong to that term. That is wordpress default behavior."

I don't think this is the case. For example, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/ , which is the correct series and permalink created is not complete in the false series http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/ , which only contains one page.

Also the correct series, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/ has no corresponding false series permalink in the faulty sidebar. And there are other instances where content and links were not recreated.

You may want to look in the dashboard to compare "Teachings" with "Posts" . "Teachings" is correct and what is supposed to be there, but what is in "Posts" is not.

    Please advise.

  • Hoang Ngo
    • Code Slayer

    Hi @Len,

Just for clarify about your site organization, the "series" is post type or taxonomy ?

From what I see now, "series" is taxonomy, and "teaching" is post type. So when it displayed, it will have many different.

Post type is actually a post, it will display as single post. But taxonomy and terms is different, they will be like category or tag, so the way it display is it will display all the posts belong to that term.
Please check this link for more information
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Taxonomies

    About the page
    http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/
    Here is that admin page
    http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=6412&action=edit
As you see, this is a post, which post type "teaching", so you can assign many things correct to your need.

And this url http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/, here is the admin
    http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?action=edit&taxonomy=series&tag_ID=88&post_type=post

This is not a post, this is a term, and in the taxonomy "series". That's why both of the display are different.

Can you please tell more detail about how the site organize, I don't have a chance to look at the site before everything go wrong :slight_frown:

    Thanks!!!

    Best regards,
    Hoang

  • Len
    • Site Builder, Child of Zeus

    @Hoang Ngo

I don't know if the "Teachings" series are post type or taxonomy, I did not develop the site. The entire "Books" sidebar is wrong. As you know they contain the wrong links, which never existed before and I need your help eliminating. But also, the word "Books" should not appear in that sidebar at all.

For example, go here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/self-mastery-and-coming-together-as-a-group/ . The first right sidebar contains all the books in this particular category. After you choose a particular book to read, chapters of that book appear in the first sidebar and only the other books in that category should be listed in the second sidebar. Now, almost all the books are listed with an incorrect permalink and format.

I would like to be able to remove the incorrect permalinks with the incorrect posts, and have the second sidebar only show books in that particular category the way it was. I am not a developer, and most of the things you are telling me are just confusing me more. I'd just like to get the damage done to my site fixed.

(By the way, all of these posts were created under "Teachings", not "Posts". And they are all organized by parts and sub-chapters therein.)

      Hi @Len,

Thanks for sending me the details.

I have tested on my test site and the enewsletter plugin is working fine for both admin & non admin user and also on activating it on subsite and on the network wise.

I checked your site and found the JavaScipt issue on it.

Have you made any modifications in the enewsletter plugin?

If not then please try deleting it and re installing it again.

This also can be due to plugin / theme conflict. You can just try on your development site deactivating all other plugins and using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen as displayed in the flowchart on the following page to know which theme/ plugin is conflicting if any.

    Hi @Vinod Dalvi

I have not made any modifications to eNewsletter. I have also used eNewsletter for over a year with the same plugins and theme with no problems. Are you telling me you can access eNewsletter subscription settings when logged in as a regular, non admin user? I cannot, as the dashboard link does not appear on the top left corner of the WP settings page.

This problem, among others, was caused by a former WPMU DEV staff member troubleshooting an unrelated issue.

As this is not a plugin or theme related conflict issue, I'd suggest you correspond with @Jack Kitterhing and @Hoang Ngo so they can get you up to speed on what they've found and fixed so far.

Please advise once you are more familiar with this issue.

      Hi @Len,

I have not made any modifications to eNewsletter. I have also used eNewsletter for over a year with the same plugins and theme with no problems.

This doesn't mean it's not got modified. There can be a chances that anybody else have made modifications in the plugin.

Deleting and re-installing plugin will remove any modifications made in the plugin file and it will not affect the data saved by this plugin in the database so it's safe to perform.

Are you telling me you can access eNewsletter subscription settings when logged in as a regular, non admin user?

It's working on my test site but not yours, this is because to grant non admin users permissions to access Newsletter Settings i have to select appropriate User Permissions options from the following path but i can't select and save it because of the JavaScript issue.

Admin area -> eNewsletter -> Settings -> User Permissions Tab

First of all we have to resolve the JavaScript issue so we can resolve other issues easily.

This problem, among others, was caused by a former WPMU DEV staff member troubleshooting an unrelated issue.

How can you say this is not plugin or theme related conflict issue?

I think this may be plugin or theme related conflict issue.

Do you get eNewsletter Settings page in the admin area without any issue like JavaScript conflict?

If not then please share me the whole screenshot of the eNewsletter Settings page.

    Hi @Vinod Dalvi

I am no longer able to see the settings page after reinstalling eNewsletter. @Hoang Ngo claimed to have fixed this issue after he updated css, it seemed like he had, but I guess not.

"Do you know what he did exactly?

Had he made any changes in the eNewsletter plugin file?"

He disabled all my plugins and created a multisite test site within my current multisite files (known to cause conflicts).

You will have to ask PC/Mac what else he did. And there is no other admin on my site to modify eNewsletter.

"How can you say this is not plugin or theme related conflict issue?"

Because, as I said above, " I have also used eNewsletter for over a year with the same plugins and theme with no problems." And, the issue ONLY began AFTER PC/Mac damaged my site, not before.

If there is a JavaScript problem I would suggest you contact PC/Mac to discover how it was caused. I was also told above that your second level support staff would get to the bottom of the JS issue weeks ago. Where are they, and what have they found?

Actually as due to some reason javascript was not working so i think @Hoang Ngo had patched it using CSS code so that it can be displayed.

You can also patch it by adding the following CSS code in to your site using the below listed plugin.

    Hi @Len,

Thank you for your detailed reply.

I will discuss this issue with my colleagues internally so that it can be resolved.

I have further troubleshooted the issue and found some work around to make it work.

To resolve the JavaScript issue change the code in the following e newsletter plugin file on top of the file as below.

    e newsletter plugin file:
    e-newsletter\email-newsletter-files\js\admin.js

    Before Editing:
    jQuery( document).ready( function() {

    After Editing:
    jQuery( window).load( function() {

For your convenience i have made the above change in the file.

Some custom CSS is getting applied in the admin area for subscribers which is hiding the admin menu bar.

To resolve this issue just add the following CSS code in to your site using the below listed plugin.

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/add-admin-css

    #adminmenuback, #adminmenuwrap {
           display: block !important;
    }

After making these changes i think the issue that remains is on clicking the e newsletter settings menus in the admin area the subscriber users are getting redirected to the home page of your site with the status code "302 Moved Temporarily"

It seems something is causing it to redirect. I am troubleshooting it and i hope it will be fixed soon

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/self-mastery-and-coming-together-as-a-group/ should have only the books sidebar, but that sidebar should contain only the books that are now in the first "Self Mastery and Coming Together as a Group" sidebar.

When you go to a child page, the books sidebar should should be the second sidebar and contain the same "Self Mastery and Coming Together as a Group" links as above. However, the first sidebar should contain chapters of that child page. For example, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/self-mastery-and-coming-together-as-a-group/foreword/ contains as the first sidebar all the children chapters of that page correctly, but the second books sidebar should contain only the "Self Mastery and Coming Together as a Group" links of the previous page, http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/self-mastery-and-coming-together-as-a-group/ .

Thank you for doing this. But will this code be rewritten in WP or plugin updates? Also, one of my initial problems that hasn't been solved yet, that I have been told may be related to the JS issue is that I am still unable to resize the MarketPress new post/product box.( See here: http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=product ) This box is extremely long, and I have been unable to adjust the size. Could this be related to the issue you are working on above in eNewsletter?

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

Thank you so much for your help here!!! I was very desperate to get that content back under control and it looks like you have.

Just a couple things relating to the above: How can we wipe the permalinks and content that you just took off the bad sidebar from the site itself, without damaging the correct links and content that is displayed now? Also, series navigation links are displayed twice at the bottom of every child page. See here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/reconciliation/part-i-the-search/ . The "Series Navagation" box should not be there. Only the "Read More" links should be there.

But also notice, there is an anomaly. On some series, there is no double navigation links. See here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/part-1/ and here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/the-book-of-creation/chapter-three-the-destruction-and-re-creation/ . Scroll to the bottom, and you will see on these pages there is only the one correct navigation "Read More". But the problem on those pages is that the sidebars you fixed earlier are incorrect. They are displayed twice.

http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/a-culdians-thoughts-on-the-bible/part-1/ should have the books sidebar look like the sidebar here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/culdians-christianity-religion/ . And http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/the-book-of-creation/chapter-three-the-destruction-and-re-creation/ should have the books side bar here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/the-book-of-creation/ .

Now that I'm looking over it many of the child pages have double sidebar links. Please advise on the above.

And thank you again for removing those bad links from the live site  , as they were unprotected content.

  • Len

One other thing, @Hoang Ngo , I've noticed. Series childen and their sub pages used to show all their parent links on the lower blue banner, directly above the first sidebar. Now, the series and their parent links are not all correct. This issue, I believe was from before you started working on the issue, so not your fault... but for example see here: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/ shows the correct parents which are "Home › Kolbrin/Kailedy › Kolbrin ". But on the next page, it shows "
Home › Kolbrin › Foreword". On this page and the ones after it is missing the "Kolbrin/Kailedy" link.

Also here for another example: http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/towards-an-enlightened-spiritual-theology/reincarnation/ shows "Home › Towards an Enlightened Spiritual Theology › Reincarnation" . On the following page here ( http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/towards-an-enlightened-spiritual-theology/reincarnation/unanswered-questions/ ) it shows "Home › Reincarnation › Unanswered Questions" . It is missing the "Towards an Enlightened Spiritual Theology" link.

Thought I'd share that with you along with the things in the previous post.

Hmm, the Read more is default paging behavior of wordpress I think, the "Series Navagation" display, because in the edit post screen, this post have in a series "Reconciliation", If we remove this, the "Series Navagation" box will hide, I believe this is happen with other pages too.

But the problem on those pages is that the sidebars you fixed earlier are incorrect. They are displayed twice.

Obs!!!, I see the issue, because in the first, I make the sidebar listing all the post child of the parent, but If this is fall to third level post, it will fail. But I have fix this by do a small code for the plugin "Page-list"

http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/kolbrinkailedy/kolbrin/ shows the correct parents which are "Home › Kolbrin/Kailedy › Kolbrin ". But on the next page, it shows "
Home › Kolbrin › Foreword". On this page and the ones after it is missing the "Kolbrin/Kailedy" link.

This is because the "Forward" page is child of "Kolbrin" page, so the breadcrumb will display like this. You will need to move/organize the page to make it under the "Kolbrin/Kailedy", so the breadcrumb will ok

Also, it seem your breadcrumb code can only display 3 links at maximum :slight_frown:, that's why if you goo deeper, the top link will start to hide.

If you have any issues please don't hesitate to let us know so we can assist

    Best regards,
    Hoang

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

I am well, I hope you are as well. Thank you for your continued assistance.

Hmm, the Read more is default paging behavior of wordpress I think, the "Series Navagation" display, because in the edit post screen, this post have in a series "Reconciliation", If we remove this, the "Series Navagation" box will hide, I believe this is happen with other pages too.

How do we do this then?

You will need to move/organize the page to make it under the "Kolbrin/Kailedy", so the breadcrumb will ok

The page is already organized under "Kolbrin/Kailedy". "Forward" is a child of "Kolbrin", and "Kolbrin" is a child of "Kolbrin/Kailedy". See here: http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=teachings . The child pages have their own child pages, understand?

Also, how can we remove the bad "series" pages from the website, while keeping the correct "Teachings" pages. For example, remove http://culdiantrust.org/blog/series/reincarnation/ from the website, and keep http://culdiantrust.org/blog/teachings/towards-an-enlightened-spiritual-theology/reincarnation/ on the website?

    Hi @Len,

How do we do this then?

Just need to go to the edit page, in the Series box, you will need to chose the "Not part of a series", so the series box will remove on front-end.

As I said above, your breadcrumb seem only can display 3 links(Home link, current page and the current page's parent), due to the link http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=teachings, the breadcrumb display right now.

For this, please remove the term "reincarnation" in the Post->Manager series, but make sure you have the backup first.

If you have any issues please don't hesitate to let us know so we can assist

    Best regards,

Both issues were resolved by deleting every series from the "Manage Series" page. Thank you again so much for helping me resolve this issue!

I look forward to hearing back from you or others concerning the other issues.

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

    Outstanding issues:

    1. A faulty plugin update shows needing update where there is no plugin to update. (You temporarily resolved this by updating CSS, but the issue is back.)

    2. Non admin website members cannot view or change their eNewsletter subscription settings in the dashboard.

    3. In MarketPress new product back end page, and in new post page, the post/product description box is VERY long, and cannot be resized.

    (4. Several of your support staff have found JS errors which may have to do with the above errors, but need resolving themselves regardless.)

I have yet to hear back from @Jack Kitterhing , @Vinod Dalvi or any other support staff regarding these issues. Hopefully I do, or you can help. Thank you again so much for what you've done so far Hoang, you are a great help.

    Hello again @Len,

This thread was about new members not added to the eNewsletter plugin.
I don't think the issues you're describing above have anything to do with this thread...
Could you please try to create a separate thread for each of your issues so that we may track what's going on better and help you resolve these issues more efficiently?
Having a single massive thread for multiple issues is not helpful and confuses everyone.

    Thank you,
    Ari.

    Hi @aristath

On the contrary, @Hoang Ngo came to this thread specifically to assist me with these other issues and @Jack Kitterhing asked me to as well, privately.

The reason is because they were all caused as a result of PC/Mac breaking my site, and I have been told that all these issues may be interrelated with the JS/jQuery problems. Do you no longer believe this is the case?

I'm not really sure what to believe, as different support staff are saying and requesting different things, seemingly independent of one another. Please do correspond with your team so everyone working on this is on the same page, and I am not requested to do different things by different staff. Thanks

Hello again @Len I'm sorry for the confussion... I was not aware of the situation.

Hoang talked me through it after I posted the above.
I'll let @Jack Kitterhing and @Hoang Ngo handle this thread as they are familiar with your issues, and I'll just stay out of their way.

    Cheers,

    Hi there @Len,

    Hope you're well today!

Glad to see Hoang was able to resolve that issue for you.

    1. A faulty plugin update shows needing update where there is no plugin to update. (You temporarily resolved this by updating CSS, but the issue is back.)

I've been through all your plugins one by one, checking the versions numbers against the latest versions and they are all up to date, When the transients were cleared, did it still show then? I know clearing them caused issues, so we won't do that again, just if it didn't show when they were cleared, that would give us some further clues.

Two, three and four are all related to each other with the JS errors, I have notified Hoang to see if he can take a look at this.

Thanks for your patience here!

    Kind Regards

    Hi @Jack Kitterhing

Glad to hear back from you!

No, clearing the transients did not change the number of plugin updates. The false notification was still appearing after the transients were cleared.

Now, one thing that I've noticed that may or may not assist you is that on a test childsite I have, the faulty plugin notification does not appear. See here: http://culdiantrust.org/childsite/

Hope this helps, and I look forward to hearing back from you and @Hoang Ngo concerning the issues above.

I have checked your plugins page, but It see all well. Can you please post a screen shot about this issue ?

    2. Non admin website members cannot view or change their eNewsletter subscription settings in the dashboard.

This maybe relate to the URL Groups of membership, I seen that you put the /buddypress/* to the url you don't want user access, remove this rule will help

    3. In MarketPress new product back end page, and in new post page, the post/product description box is VERY long, and cannot be resized.

I have check the Add Post/Add Product/Add Page screen, but it still look normal in my side. Can you please have a screen shot about this ?

    (4. Several of your support staff have found JS errors which may have to do with the above errors, but need resolving themselves regardless.)

While debugging, if I found those issues is critical, I will try to fix

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

I have checked your plugins page, but It see all well. Can you please post a screen shot about this issue ?

When logged in as an admin, go to the front page here: http://culdiantrust.org/ . The number on the top, left corner of the page shows "6" plugins to be updated. When you click on that number link ( http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/network/update-core.php ) you see only 5 themes to be updated, not 6. Now, if you go to the test childsite here: http://culdiantrust.org/childsite/ you see only the number "5" for updates. This is the discrepancy.

This maybe relate to the URL Groups of membership, I seen that you put the /buddypress/* to the url you don't want user access, remove this rule will help

I have removed that rule. It does not help. Please advise.

I have check the Add Post/Add Product/Add Page screen, but it still look normal in my side. Can you please have a screen shot about this ?

One screenshot cannot show how long the post box is, you have to scroll down and down. So, here is three screenshots from top, to middle, to bottom of that post box on this page: http://culdiantrust.org/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=product

    Can you see it now?

    Hi @Len,

I have removed that rule. It does not help. Please advise.

I have checked your site again, you have installed a plugin called "Dashboard Access", which you only allow admin access.

About the blank editor screen, here is the screenshot from my browser. I also can resize the size by drag on the resize icon (which I have circle in my screenshot)

About the update notification different from each site, this information is from the wordpress cache, and also, from different plugins installed on each site, this data can different too.

To make a new cache, you can do the update from your wordpress network. And for your information, the function wordpress use to get the update count is wp_get_update_data(), using that, you can manual verify the update count.

If you have any issues please don't hesitate to let us know so we can assist

    Hi @Hoang Ngo

Yes, this plugin used to work for users to access subscription settings. Anyway, I have disabled it, and am able to view eNewsletter settings as a non-admin user. Thanks for your help on this!

As for the resize issue, I knew where the resize icon was and have used it easily before, but for some reason I couldn't click and drag to resize. I played with it some more today, clicked and held the up (^) arrow button, and got it to resize. Excellent!

To make a new cache, you can do the update from your wordpress network. And for your information, the function wordpress use to get the update count is wp_get_update_data(), using that, you can manual verify the update count.

I have upgraded the network ( "Upgrade Network" ) and all plugins from the network dashboard, but the update count is still wrong. Please advise.

And thanks again for for assistance with the issues above!!!

    Hi there Len,

    Hope you're well today!

Fantastic! Glad to see those issues are sorted out now as well, this leaves the mystery plugin notice.

As this is a multisite and as you've said you upgraded the network, did you get any error messages? I'm wondering if your host has http loopback connections disabled, which is what multisite requires to be enabled to upgrade the network that could cause the issue.

Many shared hosting environments have http loopback connections disabled for security reasons, would it be possible for you to check that? Or is this a VPS? In which case it will be enabled and won't be the cause.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.

    Hi @Jack Kitterhing

I am using a shared host and there were no error messages when upgrading the network. I've also not had problems network upgrading in the past.

Do I need to call my host concerning loopback connections? I don't know what that is or how to check for them. You may check yourself if it is in the dashboard or cPanel, as you have access. Otherwise, please send detailed instructions on how to check this.

    Thanks

    Hi there Len,

Hope you're well today and thanks for the additional information.

in that case, there won't be a need here to check with the host, while we further investigate this for you, as a temporary workaround we could simply hide the notice, if that would work for you as a short term fix?

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.

    Hi @Jack Kitterhing

Its not really affecting the functionality of the site, or the user experience, so there's no reason to hide it. It just indicates something is wrong, and its important for me to locate the root cause of what and how is wrong.

Speaking of, have you done any debugging and found any serious errors (JavaScript, etc.)? I just want to make sure that anything that was broken in the code or on the back end won't come back to haunt me later, like if there's a WordPress update and issues we just fixed now return. Please let me know your thoughts on this, and I'll wait on the ghost update issue.

BTW, I have to say @Hoang Ngo is really a rock star here!!! Very helpful, and able to get to the bottom of things with understanding and haste. You guys have a really great teammate here. Thanks again Hoang!
