New sites created using template reverting to template url

I have created some new sites from a template using New Blog Templates. The template has categories as menu items as well as some static pages.

New sites create fine, except when any of the links, menu items or categories clicked – the site redirects back to the template url with no personalised content – not that of the new blog.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

Thanks

    Hello Nicki,

Thanks for posting on the forums.

I tested this on my lab site and do not see any issues like this.

Can you please check whether the links appear fine on the template blog ? and make sure you have selected the settings properly ?

If you can provide me the links to the template blogs and the sites you have created, that would help me understand the issue more clearly !

    Please advise.

    Cheers

    Hi

I’ve tested again this morning and it still doesn’t work.

Here is the blog created with the template:

    http://www.bureparkprimary.org/wgh/

If I click on the Numeracy category, it links to his page. But then if I click on ‘home’ it goes back to the student blog template

    http://www.bureparkprimary.org/studenttemplate/

The same happens with this one:

    http://www.bureparkprimary.org/bjm/

I have temporarily released the privacy settings on these so you can view them.

    Thanks

    Nicki

    Hello Nicki,

I had a look at your site links and it seems that the student template has got the custom home link which might be causing the issue as I can not replicate that issue on my lab sites.

Can you please send me your admin login credentials so that I can run a few tests quickly ?

I am going to reply to your email. So please do not post the admin credentials here.

    Cheers

    Hello Nicki,

Greetings and thanks for standing by on this one.

The problem has been diagnosed. I found that on the template blog, you have added a custom menu link which says “Home” and link is http://www.bureparkprimary.org/studenttemplate/

That is the reason its getting copied over from the template blog to the sub blogs.

You would need to remove that menu item and then create a new template and test again and it should work fine.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions on the same.
