No core file updates are showing on my wordpress

Hi, I have 3.9.1 installed, I have had no notifications of updates, when I go to the updates option on the sidebar it does not mention any core updates at all even though they are on verion 4 now. Can you have a look to see why this is.

    Hi @Teignview,

    Welcome to wpmudev, hope you're well?

    Can you try deactivating all plugins & see if that helps, it maybe a plugin that's preventing it.

    Also can you try switching to the default theme on your main site, and then try?

    Something is definitely stopping this from working.

    Could you also paste your wp-config.php here (remove DB credentials) so we can see if there's anything in there that might be disabling it.

    Another thing to check would be to see if there's any functions/files in the /wp-content/mu-plugins folder, as there could be a script in there which is disabling it too.

    Hope this helps

    I tried deactivating all pluggins and using default themes etc and still no update notifications visible. Below is wp_config I use a different database prefix to wp if that makes a difference. There is no /wp-content/mu-plugins folder only /wp-content/plugins

    * WordPress Localized Language, defaults to English.
    * Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the chosen
    * language must be installed to wp-content/languages. For example, install
    * to wp-content/languages and set WPLANG to 'de_DE' to enable German
    * language support.
    define('WPLANG', '');

    * For developers: WordPress debugging mode.
    * Change this to true to enable the display of notices during development.
    * It is strongly recommended that plugin and theme developers use WP_DEBUG
    * in their development environments.
    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' );

    /* Multisite */
    define('MULTISITE', true);
    define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true);
    define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', '');
    define('PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/');
    define('SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);
    define('BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);

    /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    /** Absolute path to the WordPress directory. */
    if ( !defined('ABSPATH') )
    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/');

    /** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */
    require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');
