Only 77 of 143 plugins showing available for network sub-sites

When logged in as the Super User Network Admin, in http://charitiestoday.org/wp-admin/network/plugins.php I see a total of 143 plugins listed, only 3 of which are active.

Under the same log in as above, when I go to any subsite, such as http://charitiestoday.org/kirk1/wp-admin/plugins.php, I only see 77 plugins available and only one is active at this time.

1 - Why is this, and
2 - Can all 143 be made available to the subsites?

Thanks!

    Hey brucewp

When logged in as the Super User Network Admin, in http://charitiestoday.org/wp-admin/network/plugins.php I see a total of 143 plugins listed, only 3 of which are active.

As you note there, you are in the network admin area. Some plugins for example BuddyPress can only be activated network wide.

Whereas plugins like our MarketPress can work in a single site by site install (within a multisite network) or by being network activated.

Network activating our MarketPress would make it available on all websites by default.

Another example is the Domain Name Mapping plugin, both Donnchas and our version do not get activated by the user. They sit in the MU directory (or with our latest release the plugin directory).

Hope that explains, why some do and don't show up to sub site owners.

    Take care.
