Paypal express checkout with Marketpress

I have embedded the marketpress plugin into a site I'm building (http://www.treasurebrokerllc.com) and want to use a paypal express account to send users OFF my site to order. Can someone tell me how to do this? I've tested it and it's trying to keep people on my site to order. I don't have an SSL so I don't want to have people stay on the website to finish the transaction.

Also - will I loose any reporting functionality by sending people off my site?

Thanks for the help!

    Hi George

Greetings from the WPMU DEV Support Team and thank you for being a member of our Community!

First off let me say that if you don't have an SSL certificate it is definitely a good idea to direct your clients to the PayPal website where they will do the payment and once the payment has been completed they will be redirected back to your site - to a page of your choice - something like 'Thank you for your Payment' or 'Your Payment has been Processed'.

For the sake of simplicity, I will try to me guide you through the process of setting up the PayPal Express on your MarketPress Plugin. :

Setting Up PayPal Express in WP Admin Panel » PayPal Express Checkout Cart Settings

    (More information https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?&cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_api_ECGettingStarted)

    1. Select whether you'll be using PayPal in Sandbox or Live mode. For more information about this, you can read: https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/ebook/PP_Sandbox_UserGuide/overview.html

    2. Put your API credentials. For more information about this, you can read: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_api_ECAPICredentials

    3. Put the following information:
    - PayPal Header Image (optional)
    - PayPal Header Border Color (optional)
    - PayPal Header Background Color (optional)
    - PayPal Page Background Color (optional)

You should not loose any functionality by directing your clients to PayPal's site and then back to yours. And for statistics you can use WordPress statistics, your hosting statistics and also PayPal reports to track and review how things are going.

Let me know if this information was helpful. And don't hesitate to be in touch should you need any further support from our side.

Have a good day and all the best with setting up your MarketPress!

BTW Your website is looking very good. You've done an excellent job so far

Thanks for the help GinaB --- I had already done everything you requested and the checkout process doesn't take me off the site to paypal. Instead it brings me to a page on my site asking for payment details... but there are no fields visible to fill in (unlike the shipping details that had fields showing up). How do I send people off my site to the paypal checkout?

If you'd like, I can add inventory to the one product I have on my site so you can replicate what I'm seeing. I'm also adding a screenshot here...

When I get to the blank payment screen and click 'continue', I get a warning that says...

"There was a problem connecting to PayPal to setup your purchase. Please try again.
10002 - Security error - Security header is not valid"

In a related problem, You'll see that on the shipping information page, the little truck icon is overlaying the text. Is there a way to remove this or push the text a little more to the right?

    Thanks much!

    Hi George

I had a look at your website - actually tried to buy something (might have created a test account) and encountered the error '10002 - Security error - Security header is not valid' as you described.

Another member had the same problem and this was the solution: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/10002-security-error-security-header-is-not-valid

Another read with possible solutions: http://netheadaches.wordpress.com/2010/04/05/paypal-api-security-header-is-not-valid-10002/

    Regarding this problem:

In a related problem, You'll see that on the shipping information page, the little truck icon is overlaying the text. Is there a way to remove this or push the text a little more to the right?

Allow me some time to check where exactly you would be able to make the changes (move the little truck icon slightly :grinning:

I will revert back to you at the earliest. In the meantime, if you require any further assistance with any other topic/ plugin, please don't hesitate to be in touch.
