Permalinks Issue - Categories slash Postname is bad for Performance

Hi

I have a slight issue. Perhaps the collective knowledge here could help. Many thanks in advance!

According to this post

http://ottopress.com/2010/category-in-permalinks-considered-harmful/

and the Wordpress site itself, you should not use /%category%/%postname%/ or /%postname%/ as it creates a giant lookup table and degrades wordpress performance.

I have this problem:

I have two blogs running on the same domain install. I do not want to use a new blog (sub domain or sub dir). I simply want the category permalink to separate them.

The two blogs (currently):

- http://tradr.com/category/how-to-social-commerce-blog/ (How to Social Commerce)

- http://tradr.com/category/blog/ (State of the Tradrsphere)

Can the two blogs run like this?

and not degrade performance?

Cheers,

Johnny
