Please clarify update procedure for upfront "child themes"

I'm confused regarding your Upfront theme(s). I am very familiar with creating child themes so as not to overwrite changes when a theme is updated. I have installed Upfront and Spirit, a child theme. I see that you are making updates to the Spirit child theme. Do I need to create a child theme of the Spirit child theme (grand-child) so our changes do not get overwritten with updates?

    Hello antKat,

Upfront and its child themes are different than standard WordPress themes. Changes that are made in child theme (Spirit) are kept in database - that is why it is safe to update Upfront child themes because update modifies files not settings in database.
There is no need and it is impossible to create grand-child theme to Upfront.

I strongly advise to take a backup before any updates (plugins, themes, WordPress) but you can safely update Upfront and its child themes.

    kind regards,
